audio supressor ?

guys,

i went window shoping at a accessories shop today. there was one car installing a new HU and comp speakers. I notice the mech install a small transparent box at the HU. The box got 2 RCA output. Is this a audio suppressor ?

audio superssor come in many shape and colour... and its filter out noise , of coz install at the car player output before it goes into the amp, why u want to know if its a supressor or wat ? anything wrong?

or can it be some device to change high input to low input ?

a bit off topic, because i have a amp that accept low inputs. im thinking to connect it to my componet but my HU dont have low input RCA for front. afraid that if connect to high input will fry the amp. just wondering if there is such device or the one that i saw is the device.

I think it's a high to low adaptor, it's used on HU's that don't come with any preouts

Well, the normal ones are not that expensive, probably would cost youu somewhere around 30 - 40 rm, but there's a lot of signal lost by using these stuff imo. Stinger makes pretty good hi to low adaptor, but it's priced somewhere around rm 100++, so you might want to reconsider getting a HU with preouts instead ;)
