I have an older model Pontiac that runs fine, shifts smooth and no problems. The fliuids have always been changed at the correct intervals however: I was checking my ATF the other day and it smells funny, not burnt just slightly odd. I have heard this can be a bad thing, is this true and is there anything i can do to help it?

Bright red, no grit in it either when i felt it. The fluid has been changed every 100,000 which might have been too long.

the fluid is tat smell one...one kind of funny smell one... no problem with it...
