Charade dillemma

hahahh let me requote the phrase.
He only said the mule part,he never suggested me the bolt on turbo.sorry for the miscommunication.

CB23 roxx man...

I've been thru hell to maintain my CB23 and i'm happy with it :).
Well, btw, what kind of air filter used for increasing top speed??

Hey guys,

I just bought a Charade Aura 91'.Its got a CB23 1litre 3pot engine and all the things it supposed to have.

I want to have experienced users here to share their opinions with me on how can i extract more power from the engine.I must rule out engine transplant because my father is not allowing me to do it.

I was thinking of a bolt on turbo,do they exist for Charade Aura?

Any other modification that is vital for it?

Thanks
Amir

Oh ya one more thing, where's the Daihatsu Charade malaysia club website?

Nothing much you can do on a CB23, a must do list is a complete exhaust system, shave head + port & polish, change OEM carb to proton 1.5 one and that's about it. If you want more, you can send your cam for regrind,,,so for all these mods, you can expect 20% incriment in power plus good throttle response.

No offence to the mechanic, but his statements do not go along with what you have and what you want. Indeed I agree with him that you can't change a mule into a racing horse. Then why suggest a bolt-on kit? It totally conflicts with his own statement.

The fact is, you own a Charade and might not be able to afford a "racing breed". The fact is, you want more power but do not wish to spend loads of money. Which is why I suggested repairing and modding your current engine.

And in defence of our little Charades, one thing most people do not realise is that they have 2 characteristics in their favor: 1. high power-to-weight ratio and 2. very good low rpm torque. Slight modifications increase both factors and allows you to beat many more larger cc cars off the line. On my old CB23 the only mods I did to it was an exposed air-filter and a DIY port & polish. Just these 2 mods allowed me to beat almost any 1.3cc car and match most 1.5cc ones.

No biggie la

Beat a modded 1.6ltr. Gen 2 and a 1.5ltr Vios before as well, using my cb23 on

MRR2.. ( On the way back from Tar College... hehe )

But the days of my cb23 are numbered...

Coz, I found a gtti halfcut and going to convert next week! :)

Cheers,
Tezt.

yeah, was from tarc... did my a-levels there.. hehe..

graduated last year..

You, Turbonetics?

right,to fit a bigger carburettor.
I got to do a port and polish works on the block right?

I got a good question to ask

Does the CB70/CB60 share the same block as the CB23?

If it does, technically.I can "operate" the block, use all the GTti parts and cross fit into my CB23 AND still retain the same engine code.So i wont need to go to JPJ right?

No, it does not use the same block, otherwise thousands of other Malaysian CB23 owners would have done the same. :_:

yea....if it can...my cb23 will hv 12v...too bad..its a turbo head...cant use right speed demon?

can have twin cam also... hehe

but I think the cb23 shares some components with cb61... carby turbo engine..

but cb70 = cb23 is too many things apart..

just my 2 cents..

its ok,as long as it shares the same block. It can be done.
Since that dont take me to the JPJ.I will use that route to performance if its available.
