Cheap tyre

I got price list from Oscar Kota Kemuning:

185/60/14
continental cc6 rm140
dunlop sp sport j5 rm120
falken sn832i rm99
goodyear assurance duraplus rm139
hankook kynergy rm119
michelin xm2 rm179
silverstone synergy m3 rm99
toyo nano energy 3 rm119
yokohama bluearth rm139
Fuh! below RM100.....:driver:

I just bought Kumho PS31 195/50 R15 for RM127.50 per piece with free installation and balancing.

Yes I know it’s not great, but at that price for a pseudo UHP tires, sure beat Bridgestone Ecopia EP300 or Sime Tyres Continental CC6

Some friends using say they are not bad, of course not up to PS3 standard, but then the price so affordable. I use a lot of Yoko, Falken those days, of course cannot touch PS2, but they are about half the price and at least have 80% of the performance....lol

Cruise liner using Falken FK510, so far so good. But I feel the tread wear may not be amazing. After sprited drive the rubber smells sweet and nice, maybe soft compound melting fast lol. It’s 50% cheaper than PS4 so I’ll happily live with it.

Latest test of involving the sibling of the PS31, PS71. Despite its cheap price, the value for money is still second from last because it has the worse wear rate at almost 40-50% faster than the top ones, the worst dry braking distance, second worse noise, and most other test results in the lower half except a bit better on the straight aqua and comfort, ending it with a dead last ranking.

So buying cheapo tires doesn't mean they're good value for money if they are crap too.

This is perfect example of excellent value for money.

My logic is this, for 195/50 R15, the cheapest tyre I found on mudah was the Dayton DT30 for RM110. Followed by Achilles ATR Sport 2 at RM115. Jump a bit the Bridgestone Potenza RE003 at RM160.

I got the Kumho PS31 at RM127.50. At the price I think it’s awesome given that the boat won’t see so much use now, probably less than 2k km per year, the tires probably hit 10k km at year 5.

So I wanted the best performance for the least money, disregarding wear. I almost wanted to go for Ecopia EP300 at RM120 each and I laughed at the thought of wheelspin once the turbo kicks in at full throttle.

Cannot say PS71 test is for PS31 also. One is directional and one is asymmetric pattern. Feedback of the tyres also many differences....

Yup, but that being said the PS31 is not amazing from Tirerack's review, and user feedback. For the price, I don't think there's anything better.

so I still cannot use this one, mine is 185/60. thats ok, lots of other choices for 14"

Really? I find that its getter worst and worst for 15", like Falken's FK510 is only available 17" and up. 14" last I remember, even Pilot Preceda 2 was the best normal tyre, excluding Advan Neova.

You should go with Dunlop or Goodyear. The Falken is not good.
yeah bro, i got a cheaper Dunlop SP Sport J5 price in Klang, 185/60/14, RM110/piece, maybe will go for this. Cannot wait to change. Everyday go to work, feeling afraid in case my tire blows up.. ahahah

True but it can be indicative and the main point is cheap price doesn't necessarily mean good value for money, in fact it can be worse just like that test shows. PS71 is also newer model right?

I think that PS71 and PS31, one being asymmetrical and one directional, it can’t be used as an indication.

Anyway I’ll feedback on the PS31.

Lucky in 15" PS3 still have and with RE-003, V12Evo2 and new TR1, still have some choices. 14" really no more.....:smokin:

Sometimes can find one. VR use before Land Golden LG27 from Thailand. Google also cannot find. Happen my friend shop selling so I got a set from him to try. Actually not bad, of course nothing like PS3 but for RM220 for 215/45R17, got 80% of the handling nothing to complain. The tyres are now on my Sonata since VR got the Asy3.....haha

I'd rather buy used tires but well known top models than resort to unknown brands. Just like buying cars, Id rather buy used ones but I know its good cars rather than buy new but lousy ones.
