guys,

anyone driving a citroen xsara 1.6? i'm looking at 1 ... year 2000 (december) ... mileage only 71,000+ ... one owner previously ... going for around rm42k ...

test drove it yesterday ... handling was ok ... very comfortable and quiet ...

heard alot of bad reviews about citroen cars but is it really that bad ... as for as i know, if maintained well, the car won't give much probs ... only drawback will be the resale value la ...

any feedbacks on the car?

thanks.

what happens or happened to ZX is what will happen to Xsara.

ZX is a lot better to drive than xsara with its passive rear wheel steering, while not that outdated much.

nothing exciting about xsara, unless the one you re interested is the SX or VXR version.

on the other hand, its value for money considering it is a french car.. you should know as you had test driven it. imagine this - a 12 years old ZX is only about 10K and that is the 2.0 CBU spec.

theoretically, in 4 years time the xsara will only value similarly unless someone can proof otherwise.

I agreed for its value though it depreciate a lot more then the high demanded Japs. Looking at the way of its features, quality, its design and style.

I've just seen one in leong Auto in the entrance to Pandan. Go check it out!

my brother has a unit and i've personally driven it. its a value buy and if you are willing to spend some time and get a good mechanic this car will last for a very long time. the problem with Citroen's reputation here is the lack of support in the beginning and difficulty in sourcing parts. But today with the internet and resources we have you will be aptly suprised to note how easy it is to get parts and at cheaper prices. By saying cheap please note they are slightly more expensive than japanese parts due to the ever increasing Euro.

at 40k you get a european car with top notch insulation and excellent drive characteristics. i say go for it and use only the original parts. citroen dealers here are desperately looking for owners to service their cars at authorised centres and have slashed prices and i think to run a diagnostics test will set you back RM50-100. With results in hand, plan your restoration.

best of luck!!
