Guys,
With a limited budget ~5K, what kind of good engine I can get into my car? Fyi, i've a problematic D16 engine currently wt overheat + vibration syndrom even after done wt skimmed + top overhaul.
Dreaming to get B16 horse inside it but..2012 budget not allowed it :(
Pls advice...

Thanks

save more then get the b16a then... if really itchy want do conversion now... get a dohc zc then....... or more budget, get engine kosong of the stock engine then save for b16....

Yeah bro. Better do whatever you need to get your car moving again... Then, save up for B16. Sure no regrets.

5k not enough for any b series. halfcut alone will be probably 7-8k these days.

That's for sure. Use that 5k to repair. Surely won't cost 5k. Just keep the balance and save up for B16. Maybe by next year you will have enough for B16.

Just curious, do you need to get the whole half cut for the conversion from SOHC to DOHC B16?

Mmmm..It would take me another year to get into B16 (just bought a new house).Btw,I hv doubt on local manufactured engine...Can someone advise me what type of JDM engine available + easy to sustained? Thanks

get the D16B VTEC. its a pretty good engine for daily drive with decent amount of power.

dont get the ZC la... thats SO OLD. from EF chassis..

D16B is sohc vtec engine. commonly found on local EK 4 doors aka EJ's I THINK. my car originally came with sohc vtec, but its auto so bleeeehhhh.

and yes, u need the entire halfcut from sohc to dohc to ensure everything runs smoothly. i'd advise against doing "modifications" to wiring etc. so best bet, get the whole halfcut and use everything from there.

Yup..my current stock engine is SOHC vtec also.... For this round, I plan to get the Japan/JDM engine. Btw, I did check the engine code list published b4..but never saw D16B in the list

EW4 1.4L & 1.5L SOHC PGM-Fi '84-'87 Civic 60-92hp
D15B 1.5L SOHC non-VTEC '88-'95 Civic's 62-102hp
D16A1 1.6 L DOHC 86-89 Integra 86/87 113hp 88/89 118hp
D16A6 1.6L SOHC 88-91 Civic Si/ CRX Si 108hp
ZC JDM equivalent of D16A1 130ps
D16Z6 1.6L SOHC VTEC 92-95 Civic EX/Si 125hp

and extra info, i just got a eg6 h/cut for rm9k, i think next year will rise again more... good luck modifying ..:itsme:

What do guys thought about D15B (3-stage VTEC)? Is it worth to downgrade fr 1.6 to 1.5  How's the CVT gearbox performance/reliability? Or I do better stay wt 1.6 by get other model fr the list?

there are manual on sale on mudah... try that out..:wavey:

i'd suggest getting a D16 sohc vtec + manual. downgrading from a 1.6 to a 1.5... only causes depression. lol
