Guys, my ride start giving a worn out GB sign, but only if it is cold the fall back is seriously felt.

Guys it is normal for tezza to be non responsive during cold, or it is time to replace my autobox? coz up in the high way everthing is normal...but the feel is diff when driving in a jammed or a place where is are a lot of bumps....

the same symptom i had with my A/T before it went kaput just in time when i arrived in front of Trial Tuning. :driver:

hulk & g221,
can explain more on the symptom so that noob like me can start to be alert on any signs.

ok..1 of the symptoms, normally during evening, back from work. after the car has started, changing gear from 'P' to 'R" or 'D', will be slightly slow (1-2 secs) with a knocking sound.

another one, during normal driving, the respond of the gear change is also slightly slow (eq: from '2' to '3' or during downshift.

the very dangerous symptom is when u got racun frm taikos such as AE11_SEG (very dangerous racun)..or Greytezza (racun that u can still live with, because he's on 5AT still) :listen:

wah..scary.

my experiences;
somtimes, when engage from P to R it give i big knocking...BOOM. but it rarely happens. is it also a symptoms?

and i ever encountered once...set to manual tiptronic..i can only drop to gear 3 only.cannot go to 2. after i restart the engine, then back to normal.

ok or not?:hmmmm:

mokh...the 1st one is the symptom..the 2nd one..cannot go to 2...i never went to that prob b4..standby bro..

woah...:bawling:

not this year please..
what will happend when it kaput? tyre jam? engine stall? or simply cannot move?

risau la pulak.

tyre and engine all ok...just cannot move..as u try to shift, it's like shifting from 'N' to 'N'.

oh..ok.

scrap all prev the wish list. MT is way to go. :bike:

giler2 aa racun... :listen: takuuuttt..... hehe
btw just wondering... how many of us still using AT?
out of topic a bit...

The only way to safeguard your AT box is to have frequent oil change..otherwise you will have to start praying it does not kaput on you in the middle of a highway or nowhere.:banghead:

Correct... if change oil every 20,000Km then should be fine.. But then again most of our car is more than 10-13 years old. Wear n tear will slowly set in. Again this is nothing compared to BMW 3 year start budgeting for a gearbox... So if your GB has lasted more than 10 years then already very good.

Again depends on how well it has been taken care off since day 1. Greytezza with supercharger
the gearbox has to handle more torque is still going strong....:burnout:

afaik, toyota produces most solid gearboxes..
even if u trashed it, the life-span is still longer than other cars comparatively...
:)

i have a same problem too..

i have the same issue where the gear change is abt 1-2 secs lagging. The car is installed with SARD Attack Meter, and informed by one of forumer here, that the attack meter contributes to the lag. will take out the meter 1st bila got time to go to Trial.

second problem i have is sometimes the Reverse gear would not engage. usually happened after i took the car for a ride. is this a problem on g/box or else?

g221 and all,
can u share how did you solve the problem? changed the whole g/box or just repaired it? tq.

haha Alias...

payit...i changed to M/T..problem solved...new problem arises...less money.
