Help with HU not fitting

Fellow experts, please help me figure this one out. I have a Sony xplod head unit (CD player), forgot which model already (will reconfirm once I am back home), just fitted it onto the AE101 at home. It doesn't sit into the slot on the panel correctly! (will take some pics..) Anything I could do (DIY) to make it sit correctly?

Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

u diy urself ? how u touch on the harness ?
the original harness will not match on the new player and the new player will come wif new harness. How u do ? cut off the original harness and join to the new harness ?
i would like to diy myself, thts my problem now ...

racing... the harness is the plug? the plug can be opened...
interchange the plug... change the wires to the correct position.

open original plug ....then plug into new plug which given by new HU ?

Racing_Rhythm: when i opened the panel (where air cond knob, etc. is attached), there is no harness! I was suprised. So all I did was just take the old HU out, and slam the new HU into the empty slot.easier if explained with picture, hehe, sorry if you can't understand....

artnet: the panel which the HU is sitting in is a little too small hence the whole HU looks like its stuck inside... I have not explored getting the harness in that slot but i guess i should now......

No harness? so how you install the HU? Cut the wiring?
Not to look down on you, but, this is what a harness look like.

This is called a DIN mounting sleeve. I am not sure whether you will need this or not. But, when I installed a Sony HU to a Kembara before, I do not need it.

haha, no offence taken at all, like i said, I am a noob when it comes to DIY (no exp mah!). ok, that I have and it was what's use. let me take some pics to not further confuse anyone. :tongue:
