intercooler n boost

guyz..wanna ask
if u change ur intercooler
will it affect ur boost reading???

example engine v6TT using ori i/cooler
then change to vr4 i/cooler
will it make the boost higher??

tq tq tq

If you change to a more eficient intercooler (one that flows better) The reading on your boost meter will read higher due to less pressure drop across the new intercooler. Think of it as if you were to run high pressure hose thru a small pipe, obviously the pressure at the exit will be less, while the opposite holds true.

changed turbo would not affect boost also i guest, boost is controll by ext wastegate or ur internal actuator... correct me if im not correct.

The boost produced by the turbo will be the same but since the pressure drop is less then you will have higher pressure at the manifold assuming the wastegate is connected the conventional way. Turbo exit ---> actuator.

So to cut all the technical short, will a gsrt with a TDO5 response better with a bigger i/c?? Let say e4 i/c compared to vr4 i/c ...

hhehhehee ...

Depends. High boost large intercooler less lag then High boost small intercooler while Low boost large intercooler more lag than low boost small intercooler.

In other words, increasing intercooler size along with boost makes your car go faster than increasing boost alone or intercooler size alone.

guys...

i saw an intercooler from volvo low pressure turbo.
wondering why the surface area is large...but it's thin. not as thick as VR4.
the thickness only about 2.5cm. the surface area is about VR4 or maybe evo 1-3 size.

does this mean intercooler for low boost application need more large surface area rather than to thickness?

guys..

let we know...eg:GSR
if i change the small i/c to vr4 i/c..
what is the changes..
as we know like turbo respone and what else..

2nd
if i change the big i/c what else i need to change
