but mahle and CP uses an alu grade that doesnt need as much piston to wall clearance as some brands like wiseco and ross racing which uses a diff grade of alu which requires a lil more piston to wall clearance.
theres pros and cons on each alu grade in regards to pistons... ive posted some info about it on this forum before..feel free to search my posts... cant remember where it is
so the lesser piston to wall clearance, the lesser the chances of slapping. note: "lesser" chances... not "zero" chances.
dont mention piston slap la
look like use piston to slap people only
need warm up before you whack the car
or
when start the car from cold. the car is vibrating kaw kaw
need to warm up and wait the piston expand only smooth
Tell us what is the application for. Drag, Time Attack, Endurance, Street, high boost, high compression? The piston should be suitable to the application. Power levels? Don't buy based on name only. Talk to your tuner. He/she will be able to advise you based on your requirement.
Forging material will depend on your application. 2618 is heavier and expand more so you will need to have more piston to wall clearence. 4032 is lighter and will expand less so you will need less clearence. Also depend on how you intend to run in the motor. Gentle run in or all out high boost at the dyno. Do your research on google and talk to your tuner. Both forgings also have different wear characteristics and it's pro and cons.
Piston slap is not a bad thing. It all depends on your piston and it's intended usage.
U can call up N1 racing for piston price... My experience on mahle is abit slapping in the morning but gone after awhile, no noticeable engine oil drop even reach services interval. The very best money can buy, good n strong internal for future power upgrade.
