Sorry, due to the absence of a digicam at the present moment, i'll have to rip a photo off the net to make things clearer.
This will be the model I will be talking about:

It looks somewhat similar to this, just that this model pictured above is newer, somewhere in the 90s, whereas mine is mid-late 80s.

So far my researches have concluded that,
1) the W124 300E in my car porch is SOHC (deduced this based on the statement in the owner's manual that its I6, 12v)

2) a newer W124 300E exists and its with a DOHC head.

I am very curious now. Is it possible that I do a headswap to my beat up SOHC W124 300E. You see, its currently SOHC. The DOHC version of the 300E I presume has the same block as the SOHC 300E. So, can I swap the SOHC head for a DOHC head? Would there be any significant amount of powergain doing so?

Sorry if i got the terms wrong as I am still a newbie to this whole Mercedes scene. I was from the Honda/Toyota community, so yeah ;D

Another question out of curiousity;
Do the newer models of W124 300E (the DOHC version) come with headlamp wipers? Those are currently absent on my 300E.

Brudder, ur engine is similar to my Merc, a 260E and the difference is that the cc, however, u cant change the block from ur current SOHC 3000 Inline 6 to DOHC block for some reasons. First, ur car is single cam, 2nd, ur car is currently use the 12 valve where else, the DOHC uses 24 valve...thus may as well u swap for an empty engine and fit it into ur 300E...BTW I am a member to this Mercedes Benz community..... this is the address... www.mybenz.org....:shades_smile: :regular_smile: :regular_smile:
