Memang its not that easy. But the potential is there. why not daihatsu wouldnt let p2 build their car from scratch? Ford lets mazda, Volvo, landrover, jaguar and aston martin do it. Even toyota lets daihatsu do it.
hahaha.. do u know how much income daihatsu generate just by selling their CKD parts to P2?? imagine how much lost that will be if they let p2 make their own car.. would u giv up ur money to indonesia (example) just like that??

Now, even though we know p2 is 1/2 daihatsu, the rest of the world dont know ma.. others still think p2 is copy of daihatsu..

Proton will not survive because of dumba** politicians. There was once I heard people say that the FIAT Coupe copied the Alfa GTV. How f*cking lame is that? They should know by now that Alfa is under FIAT. One thing good about Perodua is that they only handle marketing while Daihatsu handles manufacturing.

fiat coupe and alfa GTV (esp 2.0) has one thing in common. engine.

yes, the engine is made by fiat, but apart from the block, alfa is using their own twin spark cylinder head complete with variable valve timing.

both cars are designed by pininfarina in my knowledge but GTV also available as Spider (convertible) where as Fiat Coupe onle came in hard top version.

alfa loses out to Fiat in terms of performance as it doesnt have a Turbo version like the coupe. but Alfa later installed their infamous 3.0 V6 into the GTV.

in handling, i can say GTV is better with passive rear wheel steering. sadly its only a 2 seater. Fiat is a 2+2.

.
Fiat Automobili and Alfa Romeo are both owned buy FIAT SPA.

The Fiat Coupe and Alfa GTV / Spyder that came out in early 90 shared the same platform, suspension hardpoints and minor switchgear (electrical switches)

Both the Coupe and GTV were 2+2, the Spyder however, was strictly 2 seater as space to store the soft top was needed.

The Fiat Coupe's exterior was designed by Chris Bangle (The guy who introduced BMW's new look) when he was Head of Fiat's Centro Stile design studio. The Coupe was his last Fiat. Pinifarina only designed the interior but strangely were allowed to stick their badges to the exterior as well.

The both Alfas were by Pininfarina.

Engine of both Fiat and Alfa are different. Later Fiats had a five cylinder while the Alfas came with 2.0 four pots and the V6 engine.

Suspension tuning of both cars were different too. The Alfa had a more sporting feel compared to the Fiat.
