myvi copied daihatsu too?

Chill silverfish.. some people just saw something in the net and jump to conclusion..

true, its platform sharing.. like mazda and ford have been doing, look at mazda 323 and ford laser.. ever wonder why ford laser can put in B8 turbo?? then no body say mazda copy ford or vise versa..

Some people are born thick. Ever heard of platform sharing folks? Try doing some fucking research for god sake.

Who started this thread anyway? This is akin to starting a topic, "Mahathir is no longer PM?".

Agreed... some ppl just plain lazy to Google around for info. Pls change the topic since it is already out of context. :frown:

man..u actually thought perodua could make cars by themselves....

they could if they want to .... what makes you think they cant?

They can't... otherwise, they won't need the Japanese to help them.

As a matter of fact, every new car manufacturer had to rely on somebody for a couple of years b4 standing on their 2 feets.

Take Hyundai and Holden for example, in the 80s, they were simply rebranding cars from other manufacturers such as Mitsubishi and GM.

This is the concept practised at Perodua but with some design changes to make it original-looking.

u urself said they have to rely on somebody for a couple of years b4 they can stand on thier feet

Perodua has relied on daihatsu and toyota and they're already 10years old they can produce thier own car if they want they have the technology and the facilities to do it. Its just that it comes with big risk not knowing if the car they produce would have good sale.

..until today perodua only assemble parts to make a car...the true technology belongs to daihatsu and toyota...most of u take this for granted..and think that making a car from scratch is easy work...but it is not.
the proof that perodua cant make cars, is that they still rely on their japanese parent companies.

the same goes for proton...proton is gettin loads of help since it had bought lotus..and actually just borrowed everything from there....

so at the moment the malaysian automotive industry needs to rely on more experienced foriegn automotive players. they need to learn and gain knowledge...instead of just putting together parts and selling them...just because they already enjoy the major share of the market today...

Well it took proton 15 years to come up with they own chassis(waja). They started with a saga, iswara(facelifted saga), wira, satria, tiara. Perodua started with kancil, kelisa, kenari, kembara, rusa and now myvi in all 10 yrs. comparing these two, u can see the trend of p2 moving towards competitiveness as their newer cars beginning to offer more current technology(relatively; although they are stills miles far from the big players).

Kalau ada sesapa yang rajin, go to wikipedia.com, search all the current car manufacturer u can think off(include especially Korean manufacturers), study their history and post here when they are formed(for some that are part of other industry, take their time of formation and year that they went into auto industry), and try to find when they start to make their own car.

haiya.. dont think of making cars like baking cake la.. its not that easy.. Perodua still have long way to go.. plus now daihatsu holding major share, i doubt there will ever be a new car built by p2 from scratch..

look at proton., after spending millions in r&d only they manage to realy built a car, even with that much pon their product is still not as competitive.. with daihatsu controlling p2, i doubt the japanese will let them spend more money on r&d..

Memang its not that easy. But the potential is there. why not daihatsu wouldnt let p2 build their car from scratch? Ford lets mazda, Volvo, landrover, jaguar and aston martin do it. Even toyota lets daihatsu do it.

By borrowing technology from other partners, Perodua is making a wise choice... they need to pay back the technology cost n at the same time learn as much as possible and make more money b4 venturing on their own.

But for now, IMO they can't produce anything by themselves even if they want to. Why? Inexperience and Proton's downfall will be Perodua's learning experience.

Look at Proton... they made a huge mistake in the 80s. Being a MY kaisu, they decided to make something to prove to the world that MY is capable of producing cars... albeit a poor quality one.

20 years later... what happen? Proton has bad management and after the internal audit, the company itself probably made a huge loss just like MAS. Also, they are probably the only car manufacturer to continue producing the same recycled cars year by year. What Mitsu throw in the trash can, they went and recover it back.

how come p2 can built their own cars? they dont even have complete R&D centre...

styling centre they got laa.. to redesign mira, cuore, move and terios.

erm...

i think copying better den do by ourself in malaysia... like proton.. all lose for perodua.. even the most important like quality and style... :thumpdown

Proton will not survive because of dumba** politicians. There was once I heard people say that the FIAT Coupe copied the Alfa GTV. How f*cking lame is that? They should know by now that Alfa is under FIAT. One thing good about Perodua is that they only handle marketing while Daihatsu handles manufacturing.

still have the arguments for Myvi are copied designs of Boon/Passo?

well, like some forummers said, google it first...... Boon/Passo/Myvi are actually developed at the same time. due to some agreements, P2 are not supposed to launch the Myvi b4 the Boon/Passo are launched....... this was explained to us during the preview launch of Myvi not too long ago....

and ever wondered, only Myvi have the LED Rear brake lights, where are Boon and Passo still maintain the old bulbs type?

atcually Avanza is from Indonesia and under Daihatsu brand. But in Malaysia it change into Toyota because Daihatsu look like already die and all Daihatsu car is already been built by Perodua. In some country Corolla Altis is under Daihatsu not Toyota.

Daihatsu is not dead yet !!!!!!
I still love Daihatsu hard.
