Just as veyron goes to production, another ultimate car comes along and promises to be better:

fuhyoo... those use jet engines lar... where can compare with veyron??...
plus, those are mainly for breaking speed records only... while veyron is a production road car...

man..watch topgear..latest epsiode...all about Veyron...man that car has no competition...
should watch the episode...1001 Bhp...all of it in action!!

brothers, read the article properly. This project1221 is a luxury roadcar, not used to break landspeed records. It's going to be produced starting in 2007.
It'll make the Veyron look slow.

I did see Top Gear last Sun. night on BBC2. I waited eagerly for that episode since last week.

Specifications.

So as to stay concise we will only mention the most striking specifications.

- This car will be availble in three- and two-seater versions, and every client can choose between all-wheel drive or rear wheel drive. The doors will be hinged upwards and forward, therfore enabling an easy access aboard, further facilitated by a higher than average cockpit floor. The car will have sleek and aerodynaic shapes, but will be very confortable, with luxury standards equal to the best limousines.

- The engine is powered by a gas-turbine, a type of engine that is now extremely reliable and effective, thanks to more than fifty years of civil and military aeronautic development. The key specifications are a very limited number of moving parts, large range of fuels - standard or low quality, but kérosène or alcohol can be considered -, no vibration, almost no oil consumption, power available without warmp-up time. The turbine is coupled without any mechanical contact to the transmission, that can be used in automatic or manual mode.

- The turbine that Williams is developping for the MF1 (probably derived from the FJ33) will deliver 1500 HP. It has very compact dimensions, and weighs only around 140 kg - half-a-ton less than the engine and gearbox of a famous car claiming only 1000 HP. It needs no cooling fluid, and works at very hot or very cold temperatures. Exhaust gas temperature is lower than in conventional engines.

- The extremely favourable power-to-weight ratio of a turbine will allow a weight as low as 1500 kg, which means that this automobile will offer an "extra-terrestrial" ratio of 1 HP per kilo.

- Computer simulations suggest that not only the maximum speed will be 430 km/h but the acceleration capabilities will be outstanding. For comparison the Abrams A1M1 tank is also powered by a 1500 HP gas turbine ... and weighs 60 tons - that is 40 times the weight of the MF1 - and reaches 70 km/h (with limiter) or 100 km/ (without).

- The car will have an easy selectable LHD / RHD steering, which is an advantage for those who travel, for example from UK to Continental Europe, but it will also be economical for reselling the car in En gland for example, if this happens.

- This automobile will not be a racer, but on the contrary will offer many comfort and convenience features: reasonable luggage space, and it will be possible to further refine the luxurious and cosy cockpit for example with a refrigerated bar and a cigar cave. It should also be noted that the MF1 is not excessively wide (1,9 m) and more narrow at the rear, so as to further facilitate driving in urban conditions.

The project.

The Project Team is deliberately staying modest and discreet, but is composed of some of the very best engineers such as Mauro Forghieri. A former Ferrari Technical Director, Forghieri has developped cars that remain in non only in the legend of Ferrari, but also in the History of Automobile. In addition, a close partnership with Williams International, world-leader in gas turbine manufacturing, has been established, and provides a solid research and develoment ground for the development of the car.

Autodrome has always had a cautious approach regarding prototype cars: in general they have no substance and no real perspective. Some are pure marketing, others are full of good intentions but are not resourced for success. The prototype that is currently being developped is of a totally different nature. We have been closely following this project of the ultimate state-of-the-art performance car, and we can now disclose its main characteristics, which are truly unique.

AUTODROME has been closely following the development phases. We have met with Andreas Andrianos (CEO of Project 1221), who is himself a gifted and talented automotive engineer. The information that he shared with us and the technological partnership and ressources involved, allow a very strong confidence in the future steps.

A prototype will soon be shown, and it will be on the road shortly after. This step will mean an incredible step forward in the History sports car.

Temporarily called "Project 1221", the legal, administrative and financial structure of the project is based in the UK ; however, the birthplace of the car will be the legendary town of Modena in Italy. The car will be named MF1, as a tribute to Mauro Forghieri.
