NTCL (Nippon Thermostat Company Limited) is the OEM maker of Honda's thermostats. They have the after market variant for sports and racing use at 82°C, 78°C and 68°C. The standard thermostat temperature is 88°C.

Some prefer to remove the thermostat when they have overheating problems. But that causes difficult engine warm up and the engine being too cool below optimum operating temperature will cause inefficient combustion. Ideal coolant temperature range for most efficient combustion is 85° to 90°C. A 78°C thermostat opens at said temperature for coolant to flow thru radiator and is just right for street use especially for the Malaysian weather.

If you have overheating problem, this might just be the right solution for you.

I have one 78°C unit (w/ diaphragm) for sale. Used 4 months then upgraded. Brand new selling RM220.

Asking RM100 nego.

Viewing can be arranged. Pictures available next week. Interested please PM or call 0122832266 (Chan). Will not entertain SMS. Thanks.

i'm now using 68°C thermostat with mugen thermoswitch and dual core radiator running redline water wetter. therefore, whatever differences i feel is because of the entire cooling system. in cold weather or prior to warm up, no diff. in very hot weather or very hard driving, i don't feel as much power loss as compared to running stock thermoswitch and thermostat. water temperature gauge dropped during normal driving. before upgrade, long distance may cause overheat if drive above 140km/h all the way. after upgrade, no such thing.

i changed from 78°C to 68°C few months ago cos i was commuting to Kuantan & Pekan every week for work. to arrive "fast enough" without overheating problem, i chose 68°C to be safe.

the back of the thermostat. the black ring at the bottom is the diaphragm. you can use your standard diaphragm or this one. it's the exact same thing. ur 'pomen' will use some liquid gasket to seal up the thermostat housing.

NTCL 78°C

btw, the box is for the 68°C that i'm using. i'm just storing the 78ºC in the box.

water temp gauges does not fluctuate. they just don't go as high as they used to. for the car's original water temp gauge on the meter cluster, drop is almost unnoticeable. if u have an aftermarket water temp gauge, u'll see more difference.

it will not make ur car go faster. no hp increase. just less power loss during a really hot day or under very hard driving and make ur cooling system much more efficient and reliable. ;)

vTec[Rock] thankie for bump :)
