ICE Sifuss,

Anyone can advise whats wrong with my power amp ? If get heated up so fassstt .. less than a 5 min .. u can smell like the electronic componens burning. Cant even touch the metal cover. I've checked the connections, everything looks fine.

A bit of history, the amp shorted 2 weeks ago and I just got it back from warrenty claim yesterday. It was doing fine before it was shorted.

what amp u using??
you should complain to your installer again and claim warranty again....sure something is wrong
1st of all....y is the amp gets faulty the 1st time??
are u running the impedance below the specifications? like 2ohm bridged if your amp cannot support it?

er..can i tumpang?i just wanna ask sumthing la..haha sorry...
my amp also gets heated up..but not to that extend..its normal rite?

normal.if not hot mean it is not workinglor.

mine also hot, touch also scare, but it nvr cut off even with the craxxyly hot weather like now

Disconnect all the RCA's and speaker wires. Turn on the amp and see if it still gets very hot. If it still does, send it back to the installer and complain.

If not, means it was a wiring issue which mebbe was shorting a terminal a bit. Ensure all wires arent accientally touchign another terminal.

usually when your powering your amp at its max output then it will get heated faster. normally amps class A AB and B gets hot. when your amp is so hot and gets cutoff means the air ventialtion is not efficient. try and install external fan to cool your amp. i got a friend that has 2 fans trying to cool down his amp. without the fan his amp will cutoff.

try and lower your gain setting. if it still cutoff then send it to your dealer for warranty.

hot amp is not efficient because if the amp get really hot then the power is wadted on the heat. in theory when your amp is hot, it will produce only 50% of the power when the other 50% will go to the heat. thats why ppl prefer class D amp cause its rarely gets hot.

And no one even bother to ask him how many speaker/sub he's loading that amp and how are they wired?? :o

okkkk.. its fixed already. btw im using a "cap ayam" amp and the faulty previously because can reset the protection.

what i did is i rewired all the cables out from the amp. i suspect the cables to the sub is causing the problem. might be shorted along the way. i tested without the sub the amp still hot until i disconnect the cables from the amp.
