Questions on making 400WHP MR-2

The MAP ECU your refering to is a brand, i was talking about sensors... but nvm too much to explain here hehehe come for TT one day all questions can be answerd :-)

I never had an issue on not hearing my turbo spool, infact it’s so damn loud... what boost pressure are you running and what air filter are you using now... or perhaps your talking about a external wastegate...

If you want 400WHP you have got to get advise from MR2 SIONG..... he use to own a 580 BHP MR2 running T04 Turbine...... can you tame such a beast?

580BHP!!! Hmmmm.......What is your solution for cooling this beast down. I mean trunk mount IC, Side mount IC, water to air?

I guess not........but 400BHP sounds good enough!!!! well!!! let me be honest with you!!!! Other than the reason that im in love with my car, my other reason to startin this project is I wanna build a Honda Killer!!! No offence to any1 here on this Forum but.....where i come from, more than
half of the street racing comunity drives a Honda and they think its a ferrari or sumthin.

Every guy u talk to says brags bout his crapy honda when it comes to the road all he can see is the rear end of my 2!! so thought id step the game up a bit since their brains started workin and their startin to use forced induction.

So I'm hopin u could post up a set up list for me, keep in mind this car is driven only on the weekends!

Dont mean to hijack...but im facing the same with the Honda's out there:thefinger:
anyways mine is a celica 3SGTE (~255BHP) running everything stock and still can beat those Honda's (EC, EJ,EG to the new FN, FD and the wild FD2 Type R)...so anything about 300whp is quite enuf....i believe that extreme HP figures are useful for DRAG racing only and doesn't do any good in town racing....as some sifus says...handling goes first :)

Anyway why don't u try basic bolt ons for starters and work urself up to your goal!!! 300WHP is a joke for 3sgte!! trust me on this man!! Are you lookin to do this at one go or just do small modifications from time to time?

Too little or too much???-recap: originally you did not want to change engine internals.
Decide whether you want a dyno queen or street machine first.

My mistake wuz;I thought yours was the MRS with the 1ZZ.
With the 3SGTe;lift one of the ST205 and you got the base for some tweaks.If your SW20 was non turbo-the engine internals may not stand up.(for bolt on turbo).

for now im aiming at 300+ HP, with the help of a boost controller and an efficient air filter....i already have the 3" piping so should be no probs....it will take me some time to play around with the internals....cams, larger injectors, cam & crankshafts...etc. By then i should be hitting 450BHP:biggrin:

true....many confuse that the higher the BHP or WHP the more street monster the car will be...sad to say forgetting about handling, they end up crashing it....

POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL!!!! Absolutly agreed!!! therez no arguin on that point.

Well you see handling is almost sorted for me....since that was the first thing i looked into, all my parts should be arriving anytime this week. The only problem now is that i have moved on to the engine and i'am trying to find a reliable way to attain the power i'am lookin for.

sorry i did not mention that it was a SW20 MR2, My bad!

Bigger turbo with a good exhaust manifold a bigger intercooler. This way you can turn up the boost a little more = More power = More Honda eating your dust!!:thefinger:

Quite true KHOO!! MY respect goes out to the S2000 & the NSX these are the only 2 Honda cars that have managed to impress me!! Driven both and they are both gr8 cars!!

We have a supercharged S2000 runnin on 50/50 meth here. Crazy car man!!
We also have a turbocharged, and the craziest one outa all is the Hybrid runnin on 2JZ-T78........
can u even imagine how badly that monster's gonna autograph the tarmac!!!??!!

Zeus my man....I'am sorry bro but iam not from where you are. I mean I think your from Malayasia.
You see I live in Bahrain and over here we don't have those things (Satria,wira & perdana turbo).
So for me I jus worry bout the regular smart ass Honda CRX, DEL SOL, CIVICS, SI, etc, etc.

Its an SW20 MR2, GenII. I don't know what the pictures have to do with this disscussion, since iam askin for a setup list to tune my engine! But anyway! If u insist i shall put them up soon!! Still hav'nt installed the coilovers and the 18s. So she won't look all that! Jus Bodykit and 17s!

As for the disscusion. I'am sorry but if u go through it i have asked several questions for which i still did not get a proper answer! For one ( How do u cool down 580BHP MR2 ) still no reply!

Your quest for 400whp without upgrading the internals will require a good mechanic at the expense of the engine life. And to achieve daliy driving characteristics will be close to impossible ... as such, most of us will continue to yearn for the best of both worlds.

Trying to make the 4 banger from the MR2 to sound like a "jet" from the inline 6 Supra shall also be rather difficult due to the the inherent sound each engine produces.

Lastly, refer to the pic below to answer your question to cooling down a 5++ whp MR2

I think i have something to say before i go ahead (YOU THE MAN!!!!:biggrin:)

now i have a few questions for you!

- U seem like and expert with MR2....Is it possible for me to get ur e-mail id so that chattin would be easier to get my questions across.

- The Intercooler in the trunk has no airflow so how does it cool the air?? I can't see a fan either.

- Is there any other way i can cool down 400whp without drilling holes in the trunk since i was plannin to leave the NOS in there!

- what size turbo do u suggest will get me to my goal?
