Anybody here watched top gear? I'm sure many of you sure like to watch the show. What do you think about JC, Richard and James? I personally think that they are quite bias towards asian car maker (japanese, korean and malaysian :p).

Nevertheless the show is awesome. Give your opinion.

its a good show, and they don't hold back on what they say on the car, if its good its good but if its bad then its bad.

however one can't take their word too serious since they will try to make it sound funny, which is good for the show but ultimately no good for the sales of the car, like last time about the evo9, little richard said that mitsu just cross the 8 and put 9, while totally didn't mention anything about the 4g63 being mivec-ed.

IMHO everyone in the world will be bias toward something even if its very little. at least the show shows what foreigners think of our car sometime...

i find their explaination for every car rather interesting... i dont mean they should support asian car maker, but it really depends on the quality asian car maker have produced... they are used to driving european cars which have much better quality than us, thats why they compare asian cars with european cars...
well, as we all know there's nothing much asian cars will win except for the price tag... hopefully asian car makers will use european cars as the benchmark to design a better car in the future...

PS: well, at least they did give a thumbs up for the R34... haha...

Last time they review hyundai getz, they liked it but after they find that the price is the same as VW golf(if i'm not mistaken), they say... why shoud they buy one? Funny.
As for the price tag, I think european cars are cheaper cos they are based in the UK. There of course Japanese (asian) cars are more expensive.

i dont think they are biased.. they express their opinion and give a comparison to better car which is available in UK ...i dont think we can sometimes understand their point of view about asian cars, as they have a lot of choices for the same price range.
also about japaneses cars...they love them especially Skyline's, RX8, Jazz, impreza's and evo...they only consider honda's and toyota not "cool"...as most old ppl buy them in UK for their reliability...

top gear is an honest ...and a very open-minded show, they criticize any car..which can be made better...maserati's to Bmw's to Proton......

Top Gear is one the the best tv programming I've seen. Better than all the cocksucking nonsense on tv nowadays.

The thing about Top Gear is that they are backed by the BBC ie. they don't have to worry about making manufacturers unhappy, unlike say magazines etc. Which is good, because they can call a spade a spade.

But of course it is entertainment and it is their opinion so it isn't the gospel. You take what you want from what they say. Most of the time I find them very reasonable, and they give reviews from a consumers point of view, not racing drivers. They inject a lot of humour and satire into their show, so you need to read between the lines sometimes. Which is good, because they aren't like news presenters which bore your pants of most times. Neither do they sound like marketing men.

PS:They are mostly biased against Korean and Malaysian cars. They have a great deal of respect for Japanese cars.

yeap.... and they make fun of authoroties, even the england traffic commisioner like no ones business... haha...
imagine if u do that in malaysia, the government surely banned ur program...

about the GTR, screw James May, dammit he want pen inside a car!!

anyway, just compare the show with our TV's "dapat auto"....

james is alwiz those continental cars type of people ma... cant blame him though... GTR is for those like jeremy or hamster... those who like to go sideways ma...

i remember the rx8 review also not bad ma... the blend between a 4 door saloon and 2door coupe really make the rx8 an exciting car...

but then, dont really understand why jeremy hate 350z so much... is it because it is designed in america, where they only know how to go straight???

According to Jeremy, it is noisy and harsh (the ride) and because of that the car wears you down when you drive it. He also didn't like some of the pimpness of that car, like the bass behind the seats.

the european car is very refined , less use of plastic while more use of elastic PU , NVH and minor refinement is on the top .
while those japanese are blend of hard plastic , NVH loud on higher speed , refined in quality , not refined in details .

yeah... he also did mentioned a helicopter can land on the back of the 350z... he also said its not a practical car, especially the boot place... there's a huge oversized rear tower bar which blocks everything...

Really? Are you comparing cars in the same price bracket and class?

Try pitting a Lexus against ANY European competitor.

0-60mph more than 9 sec is a slow car. This is wat they said.

Its a nice show.

normal car as comparision . fair fair .
lexus is generally a division of toyota to suit and meet the big player , such as beemer and merc .
meanwhile , beemer and merc or even audi in european country is just like toyota and nissan and honda in japan .

Bollocks. Is that how you make comparisons? They aren't even in the same price bracket. Lexus are supposed to compete with Beemers and Mercs and Audis. So compare them.

haven't seen much of the show but looks good. but i never miss jeremy clarkson's article every Sunday in the NST - hilarious!
