how do you know if a certain gearbox has lsd in it?
how many ways are there to check coz i just bought a gearbox and installed it but i'm not sure if it has lsd in it..so dismantling it would be the last resort..some say jack up the car, engage 1st gear.hold on left wheel and then try to turn the right wheel...if cannot turn right wheel then it's with lsd but if can turn then it's without...my car can turn the right wheel but previous owner insist that the gearbox has got lsd..so is there any other way to check?or this way of checking only works on certain types of lsd and it won't work on other types?(types refers to 1 way,2 way 1.5 way)

read somewhere that lsd clutches engages only at what it has been set so i'm guessing that the technique above isn't so correct....coz i might be needing a bigger torque to engage the clutches....

i'm using gsr 4wd gearbox locked to 2wd and "claimed" to have LSD
i'm trying my best not to accuse the seller trying to cheat me therefore i need as much help as i can get from all sifuss to help me to solve things out

thanks in advance

erm... by looking at the gearbox code....

as for 1way, 1.5way, 2way, i not sure how to check...

the easiest way is to lift up ur car and make the wheel turn by engaging gear...

use hand to stop/hold one side wheel....if the wheel can stop...mean no LSD

if got LSD, it wil turn

LSD means left n right wheels wil turn no matter in wat situation....

if no LSD, when force applied to one side of wheel, then it wil stop and only one wheel wil turns.

so it doesn't matter if it is a 1 way, 1.5way or a 2 way?as long as with lsd it won't stop?

thanks for the help...i found a good site here:
http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/milano-75-1987-1989/51915-how-identify-lsd-limited-slip-differential.html

be sure to read up both page
in case some other forummers wants to know just as how i did...
