What do you think bout this Lubricant?

great...thank for the info...
there're a lot to talk about engine oil...oil group summore, testing this n that...
there's no such thing "best engine oil"...cuz it keep on upgrading...hahahah

heee...i only realise last night...5W-40 wasn't soo thick...me myslef using 10W-40...
the 5W makes me hallucinates...hahahah...sorry for that...

'thin' engine oil great for 4age for the lovely high rev, but less protection

'thick' engine oil great for engine protection, similarly the engine will a bit lazy to rev.

we are to choose/select a suitable oil for our engine, rather to find a what called best engine oil !!

Noted from a article that using a full synthetic oil will gain power 2-3hp

I am using semi-synthetic oil cos my 'oil change frequency' is 4000km cycle (no engine oil cooler installed yet). I can afford the full synthetic oil.. hi hi hi !
for me, either semi or full synthetic, i will maintain the cycle of 4000km.

Can any one share their experience that when the oil pressure started to drop

1) Full synthetic
New oil = ?? oil pressure (engine hot)
Pressure drop to below 40 = ??km

2) Semi synthetic
New oil = ?? oil pressure (engine hot)
Pressure drop to below 40 = ??km

Thanks

My experience using Semi Synthethic. Brand I choose is Shell. I had to top up a litre every month coz of my engine condition which is leaking and rough condition on journey from K.Trgnu to Kedah vice versa.
But it has good side which is easier to maintain speed on climbing and use less petrol compare to normal oil like Eneos which I use now. Plus it easy to rev up.
Anyway, regarding my engine condition I have to stop using semi synthetic coz it will use lot of money just to top up the oil volume needed every months.
Maybe after this I will start using semi oil again but not fully synthetic.

I hope this help.

There are different between fully synthetics and 100% synthetics engine oil.

Fully synthetics has 60-70% synthetics base oil and 30-40% petroluem base oil.

Where 100% synthetics has no petroluem base stock oil.

So there is a huge different between Torco racing oils and the common comercial engine oil in the market.

hm... seems like 10w-40 is fine to apply for m'sia temperatures though.

i cant wait to change my car's engine lub's, but still have to wait till July.... i believed there's sure different, but how big different can i find... that's my question...

And, guys. what you think bout this troco that i'm going to apply on 3S-GTE, i'm trying to get my expectation of this lub's.

Thanks bro~!

It also depends on our current piston tolerance...in other words...

vehicles with :

i) less then 100,000km or 0-5 years = use 10w-30
ii) more then 100,000km or 6-10 years = use 10w-40
iii) more then 200,000km or 10 years above = use 20w-50

that's what chemlube quoted.

I'm using 10w-40 full synthetic, oil film strength over 3000psi, ester based, group V oil...
quite thin...that why i need a regular top up...

Chemlube is also a 100% synthetic engine oil.

Important is that what is the vicocity of the engine oil after 100 degree celcius and how long the engine oil stay in that vicocity level after 100 degree celcius.

cool ~ very good information.

my engine spec is in the range, just nice = ii) more then 100,000km or 6-10 years = use 10w-40

but the thing is, 3S-GTE is super hot engine...

hehe that's easy bro, put many many cooler, intercooler, engine oil cooler, gearbox oil cooler, power steering oil cooler..... hahaha.......

hehehe
i got I/C and gearbox cooler only, trying to find engine oil cooler also...

but you know la, not cheap.......

hahahaa.. still malaysia better. although the temp are slightly warm then other country. not to bad after all though.

26/06/07 - Radiator fan certified death.
lubricant turned black, have to change.

SR-1 5W-40 4 liters has gone into engine.
First thing realized, Engine sound turn sorter and valve spring sound gone.
Engine acceleration feel lighter as what expected and torque responsiveness improved.

will check lubricant level later on the afternoon and see whether it dry out, cause of the piston ring tear out or what ever.

still new lubricant to the engine, will see how it goes....

Cheers
