What engine, gearbox, auto tranny, LSD oil you using?

slow drive no different la
drive hard got different la

According to threds in UK and Australia, the R34 GETRAG gearbox requires the use of synthetic ATF similar to the Toyota Supra's GETRAG which uses Toyota V160 oil......is this true fellow BNR34 brothers?

Wish to listen more information about it. Anyway, i've read the UK n Aus forum too, some of them are using 75W90, so far so good. But they strongly dis-encourage to use Redline oil in Getrag 6 spd.

What I use. Volume needed also.

gearbox: Redline Shockproof Heavy 5L
transfer case: Fuchs ATF 4400 2L
diff: Silkolene silktran syn 5 3L 1L front 1.5L rear

Mate, I tot gearbox oil is only used 4L for Getrag 6spd(bnr34)?? Correct me if I'm wrong....
And can anyone post all the fluid capacity in this thread? (Engine, Gearbox, transfer case, front diff, rear diff, brake, steering and oil coolant) with your car model. Thanks for your information bro.

Have been search around the forum, finally end up with this. Please correct me if anything wrong.
a) Engine oil (5L)
b) Gearbox oil (4L)
c) Transfer case (2L)
d) Front diff (1L)
e) Rear diff (1.5L)
f) Attessa (0.5L)
g) Power steering (1L)
h) Coolants (9L)
i) Brake fluid (1L-1.5L)
j) Fuel (65L)

For RB26 and Getrag 6 speed.

from what i read in the UK and Aus Skyline forums, the BNR34 uses a GETRAG gearbox and GETRAG themselves recommends the use of ATF which conforms DEXTRON 2/2E...for example toyota v160 oil( specially for the supra JZA80 that comes with 6 speed GETRAG like BNR34 just without the transfer case)....the original nissan mission gearbox oil for BNR34 is damn expensive and nowhere to be found in msia...

the reason behind this is because usually normal synthetic gearbox oils (especially REDLINE) have rubber additives in them for protection purposes but for GETRAG it actually swells the seals and damages the synchros...there have been many cases of BNR34 n Supra GETRAG gearboxes damaged because wrong usage of oils...and the worst part is it doesnt happen immediately....it's a long term efffect..

anyway this is just based on my reading and understanding fro people in UK and AUS who has actually researched this and based on their messed up GETRAG boxes.....remember this applies only to BNR34 ( R32 n R33 boxes are safe and no problem using REDLINE SHOCKPROOF GEAR OIL)

please correct me if i'm wrong

Then what u reckon we should use on getrag 6 speed boxes since manufacturer recommended oil is expensive and nowhere to be found?

Got a question. I refer back to my service bill. My car only use 3L gearbox oil, is that ok? I have been told that Bcoz everytime when oil is drained out, there must be small amount of balanced oil leave in the gearbox thus 3L is enough. Is that true? 6 spd getrag here.

if i'm not mistaken the transfer case takes 4ltrs and gearbox 2 ltrs...i cant remember.....anyway based on what i found in UK, US and AUS forums......

oils that are recommended for GETRAG are toyota v160 oil, Esso D21065, MOBIL1 220 Synthetic ATF, Castrol Transmax Z, Royal Purple Synchromax, or any synthetic ATF that conforms with DEXTRON2/2E.......

correct me if i'm wrong

I think we should not count in this way, as long as fill up the oil until it overflow, I think this is the way all mechanic did.

True true....just flush it and fill it til it's full....but it's better to know exactly how many litres so that u can buy on your own at a cheaper price and at least u know how many litres of oil to buy

Agree wif u! Anyway, I would like to know what oil u gonna change later, do update here when u free ^_^ thanks~

I'm putting in Royal Purple Synchromax in my GETRAG soon...Syncromax is recommended for manual gearboxes that require the use of ATF....i've received an email from ROYAL PURPLE US and that's what they recommend.....i'll update u the condition once i've replaced my oils...

I don't know whether is a problem to my gearbox now. This morning while warming up my car(idle), I simply clutch-in and shift the gear from 1st, 2nd and so on to 6th, all smooth. But after that I try to shift direct from neutral to 3rd gear, it has been once or twice out of many times I can't shift in the 3rd gear slot. Is there any problem? Yesterday night while driving on highway its smooth at all gear. Or this is normal while happening when idling??? Even only once and twice but I'm a bit worrying now....

Hey that happens to me as well... especially when car is running high speed and I jam the gear from neutral to 3rd.... a loud crank can be heard....

Nope bro, my situation is when running high speed is no problem to all gear, sometime may not be very smooth but never jam before; When idle it can't shift into 3rd gear slot BUT only once or twice out of many times(maybe 15 times got 2 times can't shift in 3rd gear from neutral)..... I hope that is not a problem to my gearbox. Anyway, I found out that our 6 spd Getrag don't like to be shift in fast way, must gently /_\ *GTR like to be pampered?* lol~
Bro, what gearbox oil r u using now? I'm using Motul gear 300 75w90 but many forum said the best is to use V160(supra used) oil but is hardly to get at local, that is why I'm starting to worry even a single tiny odd that encounter to my gearbox.

The purpose I post this topic is like to share what kind of oil we are using and how is work to our car, thus we can compare, suggest, discuss and prevent anything happen to our car at future since we know that all the GTR parts is not cheap and difficult to source.

To all BNR34 Getrag 6 speed gearbox user, please don't use Redline Shockproof. Getrag 6 speed is not happy with this oil....

Same gear oil as what u r running right now... guess that's not a good one since we r having such similar problems.... so what u reckon? What gear oil and diff oil we should use for our next due?

I guess most of the oil which suggested to use in getrag 6 speed is difficult to obtain here. I'm waiting the reply from frootloops since he gonna change
his Gearbox oil. Wish to hear more about the 6speed getrag user who using motul 300 gear 75w90, how well your gearbox running?
And one more noob question is, do certain level REV will effect shifting certain gear?

i'll be doin my oil change by next week most probably...i'll let u know how it's like:burnout:

1)Just wondering, if I wanna rebuild my gearbox, any workshop do this service?
2)How much for rebuild a 6 speed getrag?
3)Let say my problem is a bit rough when shift into 3rd and 4th gear, what component normally is required to change?
4)Anyone having 3rd gear crunch and how u solve the problem?
5)Clutch starting to slip can make us can't change gear in sometime?
