yes you can do it, the usage is to wind down/ wind up the windows..
only one way... either to wind up or wind down..

do u mean that the gadget can only be installed in one direction? also saying user must decide it is either "up" or "down" before installing? after installing can only work in one direction?

another question... can I stop the window in half open situation? let say I decided to install it for windows winding down purposes... I wan to wind it down half way and leave the glass half open. In short, I can control the glass in any position (i.e. 75% opened or even 90% opened). possible?

hmm.. well it's meant to close the windows.. unless you want it to be otherwise.. it can be set to do so..

well, it works when u leave the car, that's the whole point,
when u leave the car, u press on the alarm remote, then the windows will be automatically close by itself.

controlling the half-open situation is not possible,
