swap v6 to evo3

i notice one thing, 6A12 don't have good resale value..
rm 2k is the max..

before i got perdana, i always thought V6 is a powerhorse.
it seems not, other than that, maintenance is relatively higher..

imagine got to change the lifter... 24pcs.. which is popular in mitsu engine..

it just a matter of time before i change to 4G63T..
pricing is still on the high side, market demand is there???

check with my mech in johor, all i need is the engine, ecu, wiring and intercooler.
As mine is a manual, he can reuse my gear box etc.

But NA V6 6A12 sounds nice. A bit like VQ35DE from 350Z...

from day 1 v6tt has lower resale value compared to 4g63t
as not many realize the potential power of v6tt.

6a13tt sound better. from mitsu VRG.

But that one not legal in Perdana except for the guy you mention in Prime Perdana club...

But turbocharged engine sounds a bit more low pitched than NA isn't it? NA usually have a sharper exhaust note.

Anyway, I'll try and search for 6A13TT and hear how it sounds.

yeah. the silver perdana.
turbo should have a higher pitched sound compare to n/a kua....
not sure on that. - example the R35, also V6 twin turbo ma....but 3.5cc..

Twin turbo sound powerful but actually is two smaller snails only. One each running 3 cylinders...

v6tt, got what potiential??

I read before that the turbocharger somehow muffled some of the sound making it more low pitched and bassy. It might be true since exhaust gases from turbo engine need to enter the turbocharger first before being released out into the atmosphere unlike NA where exhaust gases just went straight out after the extractor.

R35 is 3.8 litre wor..

Haha, V6 does sound unique in its own way especially NA ones.

4G63T expensive in where? As in 4G63T halfcut or 4G63T in Perdana?

There are several reasons why I think that 4G63T is expensive if you're talking about halfcut price. Compatibility is one of them. Look at how many cars can be compatible with 4G63T compared to 6A12TT (I'm talking about the common models over here). You can fit in 4G63T to Wira, Satria, Putra (these 3 are not legally endorsed by JPJ anymore), old Galant, Perdana and old Lancer... Even old Saga is possible if you want... Now you look at 6A12TT. Most of the time, only Perdana owners wants it and probably a small portion of Galant owners. So, there is higher demand for 4G63T than 6A12TT.

Modification potential in 4G63T is also higher than 6A12TT. It's an engine from the famous Lancer Evolution (okay, there are some from RVR and VR-4 as well ). There is a lot of aftermarket support and modification parts for 4G63T while there aren't much choices for 6A12TT. Besides, in stock form, 4G63T (Evo 3) produces more power than 6A12TT. Naturally, most people would want to get an engine that is easier to modify and produces more power.

Certain maintenance costs for 4G63T is also lower than 6A12TT as well. It's a V6 DOHC engine so you have like 4 camshafts, 24 valves, 4 cam pulleys, 6 spark plugs, etc... That is already more than what 4G63T has...

for v6 mod u could fit 2 x td04 turbines, for better response or RHF Subaru ball bearing turbines.
4g63t halfcut is expensive, when masuk perdana edi no value.....

modding v6tt everything must x 2 & its difficult to access the rear plugs, that's y need to use platinum or iridium plugs.

V6 high maintenance and expensive mod. Parts also less, right?:smokin:

Danz you mentioned td04 gives better response but how come because the stock smaller turbo should spool up faster and will have better low end response. Sorry I'm new to turbo.

4g63t able to fit into wira, satria, etc....but max 1.8L as the 4g63t needs the 1.8 (4g93) block in able to get it endorse.

the best is evo head mated with VR4 block cos its cast iron compared to evo is aluminium to withstand high boost.

td02 have 2 types, black tag (M size from auto version) & (L size blue tag from manual version),
by installing td04 will have better response on high end, it would be best to upgrade fuel pump & injectors.

although i'm not a pro like you, this is what i can conclude too..

despite JPJ don't endorse 4G63T for smaller cars, but the price for a 4g63t is still hefty..

at times, i'm thinking of buying another perdana with 4g63t, do the transplant and sell off.

i guess i probably got to wait many many years before i could get a cheaper 4g63t..

But I thought even for 1.8 C99 Wira and Satria GTi also cannot endorse 4G63T anymore? Last time someone posted a official statement from JPJ saying that all Proton cars are no longer able to endorse a 2 litre engine except for Perdana. But that was before Inspira's time though. I think the 1.8 litre block to get it endorsed is 4G67 instead of 4G93. 93 is from 4G9 series...

Hmm, yeah. VR4 block is tough while Evo had better head but weaker block. Evo 3 pistons are also running at higher compression which is not that good for high boost?

I'm not a pro. Learned these from reading not experience. There is no way I can compare to those with first hand experience.

Well, there are people out there who doesn't care about getting their engines legally endorsed. Some people think that it is okay if they are living in rural areas where JPJ roadblocks rarely happen. Besides, there are still older cars that had already endorsed 4G63T before JPJ came up with this new regulation. Anyway, 4G63T is almost like a sacred or legend engine for many Proton owners who mod their cars, that is also why the price is high, haha

Off topic a bit here. Do you know that 1.6 litre 4G92 MIVEC engine halfcut can cost like 8-9k and above? Same goes for Honda's 1.6 litre B16A and B16B Type R engine. Those might even exceed 10k from what I see at mudah. On the other hand, Toyota's halfcut for 1.6 litre 4A-GE (Silvertop/Blactop) can cost as low as 4k to like maybe 6k. Even the powerful 3 litre 2JZ-GTE are selling like around 4k to 6k as well. If you ask most people, they will know that technically, 2JZ-GTE parts are actually worth more than something like 4G92 MIVEC. But why is the tiny 1.6 litre engine selling at a higher price than the 3 litre engine? Because of demand. There is a lot of demand for these Mitsubishi engines which is why these halfcut sellers decided to hike up the price. For all you know, in Japan, these Mitsubishi engines might probably worth less than half the amount of selling price here...

ya true, block from 4G67 not 4G63....getting rusty edi...

strongly agreed..

i guess for the classification of 2.0cc and below, 4G63T is the best out of the bucks.

seriously regretted. i ought to join this forum much earlier before i got my v6..
