Need some info about brake pads

Oh realllly, well i am on Ultrex 550, somehow felt like the cold bite of Advantage Blue was much better. As for warmed i still yet to findout.

Anyway anyone tried Mintex ?

I don't really have a fair comparison for the two. My R32 brakes were using the Ultrex 700 and it was a huge difference between stock Nissan R32 pads and Ultrex 700.

Right now stock Sylphy calipers with Advantage Blue and the feel isn't the same, but mainly because 4 pot vs single pot and size of the calipers and all. I used blue in my Wira in the past too, too big a difference between Metal King, stock Mintye, Hitachi and Ferodo Zero. Ferodo Zero was my back then next favorite. Ultrex wasn't around back then.

Mintex? Is Mintex = Mintye? :hmmmm: If yes forget about it.

Even after the pads were bedded in?

Same experience for me. Even after bedding in. Standing on the pedal on a cold morning is the only way to get it to start to slow down. Downhill gradient can completely forget about having brakes.

That's crazy.....

So what's the conclusion? Trestor blue for street? Good cold bite? How's the dusting.

Trestor Blue plenty of dust, even more than Bendix Metal King, but cold bite much better than Bendix

I don't think metal king is a high temp pad. It's still OEM replacement right?

Bendix is probably in the market for a long time and they have quantity which is probably why affordable. Ultrex is still new and their pads aren't exactly cheap, but they aren't overly expensive either.

Having said all this - brands like EBC and all the famous brands make very good pads too. Just a pity they are so much more expensive. I recall being offered Endless pads for my R32 calipers for RM480 excluding install. When Drex offered me the 700 (Ultrex only has this pad for this size caliper) deg pads for a significantly lower price, I took the chance and never regretted it. Brilliant brake pads and has the advantage over Trestor Advantage Blue because of the higher temp resistance. But it's unnecessary money if you don't need such high temps anyway.

I'm sure there are loads of other good pads out there, no one here has any experience with Dixcel or Ferodo or anything else?

I don't mind the dust, it actually makes the rims darker and more aggressive looking!

Dixcel got many selling but I never tried nor hear anyone give reviews yet so don't dare to try yet especially since it's also as expensive as Project Mu or Endless. Was looking for Ferodo for my 4 pot last time but cannot find. Almost thinking to get the Endless SSY but just by comparing the spec sheet it seems slightly below the Project Mu B-Spec for almost the same price hence I still went for the Project Mu again.

Other options are Remsa pads and Advics Ceramic pads. Haven't heard any reviews on Remsa as well so lazy to try. Advics Ceramic is more like normal pads like Bendix MKT, so I wasn't that keen to try also, but the price is also not expensive, similar like MKT. Have tried some friends Mark X with this Advics pads but a bit mixed and confusing feeling hence I didn't go for it.

Bro KenDiriwan....How is the dust and rotor wear for the Ultrex 550c?
Dust for Ultrex 550 is just fine as any normal brake pad. Can't comment on rotor wear as am just clocking 3month on it so far.

No man, Mintex is different with Mintye.

Trestor Blue definitely worth for street. Just prepare for dust mania.

Is it local brand or back in the days hi temp brake pads were so affordable?

Made in Tomyam Land. Spare part shop guy tried in track before that is why he recommend to me. That time I also still new so buy one set to test, so now understand the level of bite in cold and hot since experience it before already....:driver::biggrin:

Metal king are normal street performance pads. The ones we were talking about is "King's" not Metal King.....hhahahhaha

This set of King's is rated 800 degree c, cold bite is far far worse than Metal King.....lol:biggrin:

EBC have many range too. Ultimax which is black are normal OEM replacement. Then there is Green for street performance, others are Red, Blue, Yellow and also Orange. Those days I ask for Green and Yellow before and cost RM350 and 550 respectively.....:bawling:
