Lets say a GSR and Evo are both boosting at 1 bar, both using the same turbine. What is the difference between the GSR's 1 bar and the Evo's 1 bar? =P

Or lets say a TD04 boosting at 1 bar and a TD05 boosting at 1 bar, whats the difference?

same thing...that is measure of pressure of air after the blower heading towards the intake manifold...
the difference in power is that. GSR is running on a smaller piston with less fuelso less power while evo is running on a tuned engine with a bigger stronger piston and bigger cc injector so the power will be better...

shouldnt have ani difference.. except td05 spools up slower.. correct me if i'm wrong..

bigger turbos will have advantage on smaller turbo despite running on the same pressure(bar). The fins on the bigger turbo can spin slower compare to the smaller ones, hence less heat is produced. Less heat = cooler air ambience = denser air = more power ;)

that evo will have more torque due to higher engine capacity...

td04 1 bar and td05 1 bar not same de.........

tat td05 1 bar will more power at ur high rpm.

Thanks for the replies guys...confirms what i was thinking !Anyway,if you are boosting low (1 bar),is there really a difference in high RPM if you use a bigger turbo?

For example,if you are using TD04 and boosting at 1 bar,at high RPM if boost still stays static at 1 bar during acceleration it means the turbine is giving no trouble maintaining boost even at high rev right ?So what advantages will i have if i were to change to a bigger turbo but maintain my boost at 1 bar?

If i only plan on boosting 1 bar,my current turbo does not drop boost at high rev and is good response. So if i were to upgrade to a bigger turbo,i will only be making things worse since turbo takes longer time to spool up and i will lose out on response and wont gain anything at high end. Correct?

han: dude... boosting of 1 bar with a smaller turbo vs bigger turbo will let u gain in TORQUE

horsepower is nothing without high torque

as far as i know.. theorically, bigger turbo have better effeciency as said as VT-ten, thus 1 bar on a bigger turbine will have a denser oxygen compare to a smaller turbine.

bigger turbo do spool up slower but when they both hit 1 bar bigger turbo will give more power, if everything else is set correctly and same on both setup.

just my 2 cent, my life is lacking turbochargers.. the only turbine that i had touched before is a toyota ct12, and the one in some sanyongg car..

td04 1 bar different CFM, td05 1 bar different CFM. so even though same amount of boost shown on the boost meter, the outcome will be totally different. different torque transmitted thru flywheel, different suction of air, etc etc etc

td05 on gsr and td05 on evo

the one on the gsr will spool up a lil slower , maybe around 500rpm slower to get fullboost

if u r facing real slow spool up it just means ur turbo is condemd , there is a leak , exhaust leak or air leak. do a air leak test or a exhaust leak test

td05 on evo's get full boost around 3.5k-4k depends on wht boost u want to hit at , i get around 1.6 at 4k

td05 on gsrs would loose out maybe 500rpm more thats all about it

td04 1bar and td05 1bar , both has same pressure , but not the same amount of air , CFM as khoyos said

a td05's 1 bar and a td04's 1 bar is the same. Assuming that both are on same cars. 1 bar is the positive pressure on the intake and your postive pressure is measured on the volume of air in your pressure pipe. So it measures out to be the same amount of air for both turbos

hoskos : pressure is the same, not the CFM
so u mean gt45 1bar and td025 1bar same amount of air ?

if what u said is true, then most of us wasted our fortunes to upgrade turbo...

Therotically how is pressure caused?
The amount of air forced into an area.
A td04's 1 bar will definitely equate to a GT40's 1 bar
as would a 280HP evo on dyno be the same as a 280HP civic on dyno
Because bar, psi, kg/mm, cm, mm, hp are units of measurement
Doesn't mean your ruler bigger than mine that means your 1cm bigger than mine.
And to answer khoyos question.. Your smaller turbo maxes out at 1.4 bar, while your bigger turbo maxes out at 2.2bar and your bigger turbo reaches 1 bar faster than your smaller one. So i doubt it's a waste of money. If not why would N.A. bro's wanna spend so much money just to increase another 1k onto their redline?
Cheers

yes bro, pressure is the same. same like u weigh 1kg of steel, and 1kg of cotton. which is heavier?

u are answering by the book, and it is true that 1 bar is still 1 bar no matter what.

anyway, whatever la...
