alpine 9843 - auto dim?

does the other alpines have the auto dim mode where the display of the hu will be slightly dimmed when you turn the car lights on at night?

i see the function (dim auto) in my 9843 but it doesn't look dimmed with the lights on.
could it be the wiring? what to do?

my previous stock blaupunkt dimms with the lights on.

This is the general features of Alpine Hu, it was meant for avoiding your eyes from the glaring lcd screen at night time. The auto dimmer can be switch off via the back of the Hu. Get the accessories shop guy to do it for u, oni take less than 5 minutes. Hope this help!!!
