Bigger Rim problems?

Ok, easier said for the others to understand, if u r using 185/60/14.. now changing to 195/50/15.. then ur tires are wider thus better grip due to bigger contact patch (the first figure 195 over 185 means that its 10 mm wider).. u will feel that handling improve but a bit heavier to accelerate due to more drag on the tyres and more weight concentrated on the outer diameter of the wheel. (this explain why even when 14 and 15 wheel weights the same, the 15 still feels heavier)

for your info, the diameter of the 185/60/14 tyres and 195/50/15 tyres are almost the same.. therefore difference is still not that much and speedo reading is not affected.. 205/45/16 tyres have bigger diameters thus feels alot heavier.. 17' wheels, no need to explain qua..

Rollakid, that guy was thinkin bout changing to bigger rims so dont make him misunderstood.. i was pointing to that fact and reason for this thread to be brought up.. no hard feeling please..

no hard feelings ofcourse, debate is for learning anyway. what i'm trying to prove is basically let one understand the basic of the handling of tire and how thick the profile of the tire will affect the handling in what condition.

anyway in my case, i changed from 165/70/13 to 205/50/13. rim same diameter, but alot wider and heavier, so its natural to get smaller tires so i won't suffer too much on acceleration. power wise its the same, cornering wise i can do 70km/h and the previous set will lost traction after going over 40km/h. fuel economy? drop from 10km/liter to 8.5km/liter, cuz less travel per engine rpm.

bro...165 direct go 205 with same rim? u joking? is this possible? i not think so man........

Waaa, rolakid u tipu ur case oledi.. 70/13 to 50/13 without mentioning diff of tyre width.. u make me wonder last night what kind of moron will change to smaller diameter tyres.. hehehe jk jk..

anyway, ur case is also null and void as ur contact patch is diff oledi right?? dont tell me u lost traction faster with ur new set of wheel..

No matter wat.. i find it hard to do these kinda mods here in our country ler.. the road condition is shit!!
bad for hard suspensions.. u do ur rims so big also u can't run ler.. If u're in the US where the roads are just sooo nice.. (nice for skateboarding also hahahaa.. that's wat i thought last time) .. if u're in US then u have hard suspensions and big rims and all also not so bad ler..
i think if u wanna drive around here in msia u better find the right equilibrium la for ur ride.. just wat i think.
if u want looks so much .. get ready for more $$$ and sometimes, in some cases, lost of power.

...right? ehehehehh..

wahahahahaha tipu abit lar.. but not tipu everything ler. basically my whole wheel are smaller now but wider.

lost traction? the rear memang easier lost traction now, but nothing to do with the tires, its the suspension.

peace lar bro, its my style to learn and explain things in theory. you learn the basic and fundamental and then apply it to real world situation, instead of looking at the real thing itself. :)

im usin 195/50/15
the 195 is the wide, then the 50 is the height?

50 is the ratio.. 195 x .50 = u get the sidewall height...
sidewall height x 2 (since it's on both sides of the wheel) + diameter of the rim = height

bro..i cant get ur ratio theory la......

i think what he meant is the side profile means the % of the overall width.

rollakid, nope, it's a aspect ratio

Aiyak, rollakid.. all the while u where thinkin the 50 is the height ah.. no wonder u where thinkin ur tyres are so thin.. hehehe.. :d
