But battery quality is ver low nowdays. Last time a typical 13 plate battery last more than 3 years. Nowdays slightly over 1 year. What a major bummer. They list RM120 for a battery for cars under 1000cc. The 1.1-1.8 ones gonna cost more than RM200 already. Buying off hypermarkets ain't any cheaper.

eh... maybe due to MORE electronic stuff, i.e. injectors, ECUs, alarms, sensors... bla bla.. last time carb..dat's it!

Use like those days lor..use hand to start the car...hahahaha...
What to do... this one increase that one increase... the 'G' sleeping... can not control them...We are the scapegoat lor...

Cars in the past seldom had tans of accessories inside there for the battery can last longer without accommodating more load.

Here's the article. My NS70 satria battery has lasted me more than 2 years now. It's getting weaker but it still gets the job done for now.

Prices of car batteries increase by 20%

PETALING JAYA: Automotive battery prices have gone up by about 20%, the second price increase in 17 months.

Battery Manufacturers Association of Malaysia president Chow Siew Hon said the increase was effective immediately following the increase in the price of lead in the world market.

“Lead makes up 70% of the components in a battery. The increase in the price of lead has pushed up the cost of production for batteries by about 15%.

“Manufacturers have no choice but to pass on the costs to consumers,” said Siew Hon during a press conference.

Siew Hon said the price of lead in July was at RM10,380 (US$3,000) per tonne. The figure was RM5,970 higher compared with the February price last year at RM4,412 (US$1,275) per tonne.

The last price increase for car batteries was on March 1, 2006.

However, Siew Hon said consumers should not pay more than the recommended retail price (RRP) printed on the batteries.

Tai Kwong Yokohama Battery Industries Sdn Bhd representative Eric Chow said there might be another revision of the RRP if the lead price continued to rise.

Eric said the prices for batteries differed depending on the battery model and the engine capacity.

Meanwhile, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will look into the battery price increase.

“Although it is not a controlled item, we can take into account the public’s grouses and find out why the increase occurred,” said ministry parliamentary secretary Hoo Seong Chang after launching Aeon Co (M) Bhd’s 50th Merdeka Day celebrations.

The event was held at the Aeon Taman Equine Shopping Centre.

The ministry’s enforcement director-general, Roslan Mahayudin, said that under Ops Gaji as of Aug 8, a total of 340,143 premises were checked, compounds totalling RM201,780 issued and 424,039 items seized.

On Aeon's promotion, its managing director Nagahisa Oyama said 50 essential items would be sold at a discount at all Jusco stores until Sept 2 to mark the 50th Merdeka celebrations.

A Merdeka countdown party will be held at the Aeon Tebrau City Shopping Centre in Johor Baru

Its definitely got nothing to do with the G. These price increase is by the BMAM and i can understand their reasoning on the price increase. I'm also in the metal sector and prices of commodity is going up like nobody's business.

prodigy,
So that means we have to run down more rempits so that we can take their bikes metal parts, melt it and sell it. Hhmm... you know, come to think of it, since we're going to melt the metal, we might as well melt `em rempits too. buahahaha
