carb a/f tuning..

Finally got the picture of Proton Carb a/f mixture screw !

Hope you guys can see it clearly ;)

thanx for showing us the pictures, bro... i was still wondering where the screw is until i saw ur postings...

Use the electrode of the spark plug (bend the eletrode) to adjust.

Clockwise for rich, anti for lean.

Hie...
It's great to learn a new thing here...

What are the characteristic when i turn that screw???

If i turn it lean then what will happen???
If i turn it rich then what will happen???

Thank you very muchy... :)

leaning out will save more fuel, but running a hotter engine...
riching out will lose more fuel, but cools down your engine...

run rich if ur setting is the drag type which means shifting gears only when u reach the max hp on ur rpm....

however, the aforementioned tuning is not exhaustive, try 2 get a timing light n check ur current ignition timing compare with yer original stock timing btdc (before top dead centre), i used to have one customized extractor which allows me to advance my ignition timing into 20+ degrees without pinging during idle, but a big pinging during low rpm acceleration though just a lil while then would feel smoooooth all the way till 7k rpm.....

it's an easy job just get a spanner (forget the size), and loosen two bolts above the spark distributor, then rotate towards u for advance or vice versa for retarding, u could hear the engine sounds more agressive or otherwise if u did it correctly when the engine is running idle......after that recheck the timing with yer timing gun n record it for future tuning purposes.....

thus conclusively, tune till the max just before pinging for draggers......

Can you explain, y leaning will make the engine hot?

I have just recently install a sport filter in my ride, and i notice that the idle rpm drop below 1k "used to be 1K-1.1K" what cause this? :o

well

advancing the distributer.....

hmm..i've seenmy mech do it..

well, when you rotate too much,..the engine sounds lie dying off...and vibrate.
then when it is in teh right place..the engine will just calm and stable...

can someone tell teh whole thign of it?

hmm..let say...
i increse my idle speed..from 1 k..tune it till 2k rpm for idle..(a/c off)
then i adjust my distributor..will the rpm be lowerd?

no, advancing the distributor = advancing the ignition timing will not affect the idle timing, it would just get u an earlier spark for each explosion in its corresponding cylinder, thus more time to burn the fuel before top dead centre, which is good for high rev though....

booze,
the fuel apart from acting as combustion material is also a cooling agent....
anyway..i set my car lean...
les fuel..becoz could save more fuel...and yes i saved fuel..

but th heat tempeture...a bit higher in the sence that..it get hots faster

Hie...

I did mine just now and i am confuse...
This is what i did... It is a 4G13 anyway...

1) Locate the screw and found out that it is not a screw... It is a stick with a round head that doesn't fit in a screw-driver... What is that about??? Please help...

2) Screw driver cannot enter... So i use a playar to adjust it since it is budging out... Like that one ahh??? Or it is a screw that a screwdriver fits in and not budging out??

3) Ok... As being mentioned... Clockwise for rich... anti-clockwise for lean...this term is applied for humans that faces the engine where the car is facing me or rotation of the screw as human face the same direction of the car??? Please help...

4) Since i am confused... I did an experiment on it... I am facing the engine, means that the car's head is facing me...
I rotate clockwise --> the engine's rpm drops a little, then black smoke start coming out from the exhaust and smells really bad... PETROL SMELL... can lite it up with a lighter and BOOM!!!

I rotate counter-clockwise --> The engine's rpm rise a little and no more black smoke... The smell more to be burned fuel than fuel...

One thing weird is that i have rotated it to the maximum counter clockwise ( i am facing the head of the car ) and cannot be rotated anymore... Is there anything wrong with the carbie???

Thank you very much... :(

petrol smell means to much fuel and smoke means not enuff fuel

so to get the corect adjustment you must try to screw to the optimim of fuel misture.

as mfor me..

i got the minimum usage of petrol..tighten teh screw abit from the normal adjustment..

if you tighten too much..you cannot start the car...no fuel ma

if you let go too much..you are wasting fuel..no point then

so you get it?

Hie... Thank you for the reply...

I am still kind of confuse here... :( Stupid here... :(

If i turn it rich, will the RPM go up?
If i turn i lean, will the RPM go down?

thank you... :(
