DIY : Internal Firewall Sound Insulation.

well.. removing a dashboard is a lot of work... n u may end up making more noise in ur car if it is not installed back properly...

anyway.. i have Insulflex for sale.. u can PM me if u are interested... same material as Superlon...

khguan,

what's the price like and the measurements?

interested here

what to expect arr.....
not much wiring lar
just that taking the dashboard out that time, prepare for a few complications
if possible, get someone to help u take it out
it needs two person to take it out since u have never taken it out before

as for mine, after the first time i took it out, i re-wired some of the wiring and now it is easier for me to take it out

nothing much to expect lar
quite simple actually,

takes me around 25 minutes to take the whole thing out
one word of advice
besides taking the steering out first
make sure you take the signal column out also (this is the column that u have the signal and wiper switch on)
will make ur life much easier

oh yeah, almost forgot, not much u can do behind the dashboard
really

what car are u driving anyway?

mine is a wira
well, everything is so compact there, i hardly find any spots to stick the insulflex

so what i did was bitumen the dashboard ( the behind of it )
then put a 6mm thick insulflex there
screw back everything
and kautim

frankly speaking, do you find any difference after your insulflexed the dashboard area?

I just lay 3 layers of 1/4" insulfex onto the floorboard and i find that there is not much difference. But could hear the road noise slightly muffled, but not up to my expectations. I even spray the undercarriage with thick layers of rubberised spray.

frankly speaking.......
ok wert the results

must know how to properly do it
not just simply lay it all over the place one

after i did the dashboard
what i notice is

less noise from the engine bay (the noise that comes from flooring the accelerator in low rpm)
road noise is still a killer (but that could be caused by my almost worn out tyres)

nuggyn,
try checking if the rubberised layers beneath ur undercarriage
check if it is still there

if i were u, i would have sprayed it unto the inside of the undercarriage
at least it lasts

and also check all ur suspension bushings
if worn out also will give a killer road noise from what i notice the moment i changed them last time

actually this is very subjective lar, all depends on individual sensitivity
like my friend says my car is very quiet
all my friends seems to sleep in my car
but i find the car still noisy
ahaha

the rubberise layer is new, as i have mentioned...i sprayed it when i did the floorboard. I sprayed it into thick layers...bought 3 cans of rubberised spray.

Off topic:
What is rubberised spray? Where can get and how much? Can't we use that instead to soundproof the firewall?
