I haven't come across this before, not in any other engine control units, but for my case, which is functioned by Siemens VDO ecu....my story

I met with an accident 3 weeks ago around kelana jaya, on the 3rd day, there wasn't any engine check light at all.

Today, when I took my car, the engine check light was on, I was like WTF???? Who the hell touched my sensors, initially I thought it was the workshop who did something to it, so I decided to bring it to my workshop at mayang to check, nobody there could do anything. So I brought it to a Proton Authorised Workshop instead.

They tried to erase all the problems, but there was one problem which they couldn't erase, FUEL PUMP SHORT CIRCUIT??????? I didn't know that there was a sensor to the Fuel Pump????? But that was wat it wrote there....Ignition timing no problem at all, no other problems from other sensors, not even the meter.

And the mechanic advised me to change asap as it might spoil the ecu if I don't do anything....So sifus sifus sekalian, please help me here....

thanks in advanced

any EFI engines they rely heavily on ECU which then rely on inputs from sensors.

check engine light is a way of communication between driver and the ECU telling there is/are faulty sensors.

it can be a false warning - either a loose connection, wet connection or sumthing else which can just be re-set.

many big workshops have computer analyst machine (also called computer tester @ checker) which can commnicate with ECU to find out the fault. EON and proton edar uses MUT which also can check some other Mitsubishi engines.

fuel pump have sensor. that's why you can get a reading from ur fuel gauge telling you have much fuel u still have in your fuel tank. EFI cars now uses sensor type fuel metering system.

is your car rear ended in the accident ?

for real? my ae86 fuel tank still use the old fuel float XD feel outdated now...

rollakid, urs not outdated lah. your fuel float is using electrical type
a constant changing currentdue to a resistance from the float gives u the reading.

hmm.....coz mine also using the the old float type..hehe
teh..so the proton service centre fellow already check your car???
