wah... 300-350 whp still not call beast ?!?!?

Dun say 4G61T lah... even with a VR4 u have to do up quite a lot to get THAT amount... have to go for bigger turbo liau. TD05 can reach 300 on the dot, but might be over-stressing the turbo. You'll need AT LEAST an AR50... which requires the use of an external wastegate... 3" downpipe + exhaust pipings... bigger intercooler (Assuming urs is a VR4 ic only)... 2.5" intercooler pipings... metal gasket... fuel regulator... fuel pump... and an engine management that could retard timing as well. Btw, this is of course assuming u have a VR4. 4G61T, u might need at least an AR60 lerz... and perhaps rebore to 86mm pistons so u'll have a 1.8 or so.

guys...i need ur guys help again..i'm not satisfied wif my gsr...feel like my gsr can produced more power...anybody can give me any suggestions?...my budget around rm2k-2.5k...currently im using td05 double fin wif 0.9bar...guys,im so soly 2 disturb u guys again...thanx..

just got the car for 10 days and u r not happy with the power...haha....

BTW, can all the sifu out there advice me can i rojak the 4g93 n/a sohc (modified to dohc) to 4g93 GSR Evo? as i do not want to go for inspection. can the n/a block stand the presure of GSR standard turbo? please let me know...

max is 1.4bar here are the suitable mods if u want to go safe

- 600 walbro 190lph or 255lph fuel pump - u can gamble with rx7 or rb26 fuel pump bt dont cry when it fails , its not new
- 400 sard fuel regulator (say no to arospeed they tend to leak)
- 300 metal gasket 1.5mm MMC - lower ur compression
- 600 bar n plate intercooler custom - ur gsr intercooler is good to throw
- 700 intercooler stainless steel piping (u cant gamble 1bar above with rubber hoses)
- 50 cold plug code 7 NGK
- 200 retune e-manage

2nd stage
- 700 good condition td05 twin fin
- 300 - 510cc injectors from evo series

how much this came to ?
do not regret the path u chose.

in the end , its on ur hands to decide bro
GSR for modding cost more $$$
conrod is thin like my finger bone
and pistons are weak
if u opt to Eagle conrods and JE pistons it will be good till 2bar bt hope ur crank lasts.

sifu....if i know all these gonna happened than i swear i'll not get a gsr's engine...hiah...sifu,check ur pm...wif all these modifications,im sure it gonna cost alot..more than rm2.5k...dis month cannot eat rice laa,must eat batu i think...hahahaha..jz kiddin...:shades_smile:

esp those who want to down grade because cannot pass jpj...dont waste money lar...just save the 2.5K for another transplant..heheh :)

Wah have just started to read this tread and looks like lots of sifus here. Anyway hope to get some answers and sorry for cutting in the tread.

1) if td05 16g change to 20g can just plug n play without other mods like injectors? and how much would this cost?

2) Can I change to an open pod air filter using the ori rubber hose and sensor? what is the optimum size for the air filter?

3) if change thicker metal head gasket, any other things need to be touched?

4) always hear bout vr4 strongest block and conrod, so if i'm running evo1 what are the parts that i can just plug and play?

dohc 16v, with 2.5k, u better get safc, evo injectors, evo airflow sensor and evo intercooler. that would do for at least 1-2 months before u get hungry for more... oh yeah, increase the boost to 1 bar if u havent done so. but make sure u get the engine tuned using safc after increasing boost. u should be getting at least 200whp with this setup.

at this stage, ur standard head gasket, standard fuel pump and standard clutch will have limited lifespan. standby some money in case something goes wrong...

gsr is a nice and reliable engine if u do it right. those who said gsr not nice are actually those who have never driven gsr before. but it's definitely underpowered in stock form if compared to other options like evo or vr4.

here is how the timeline is , hehe i am not KIDDING bro , take it seriously

1. First you want a standard turbo engine
2. You choose evo3 since it has the best in the range stock standard best among vr4 , evo 1 - evo2 - evo3
3. Evo 3 is high compression and in stock standard condition it is the best
4. The g-force and response u get from an E3 is unbelievable , like an n/a bt with nice flying beast
5. for sometime u boost for 0.6bar stock standrd , u just put air filter KNN for fun.
6. suddenly ur actuator hose leaks
7. u feel the force of overboost 1bar
8. u felt heaven on earth
9. u crave for that 1bar boost for daily drive , stock blow off cant stand , u want BOV chiuuu, get SSQV or blitz kepishhhhhhh
10. u go finding an SAFC to tune up for 1bar
11. u start facing misifiring
12. u get a fuel pump upgrade and fuel regulator upgrade
13. enjoy ur 1bar boost , clutch stock one sure slip , need semi race exedy
14. u go to ur mech and u notice boost doesnt go up suddenly
15. u notice ur intercooler piping made my rubber isnt holding anymore
16. u get a Stainless Steel piping or aluminium piping to hold better boost
17. each day u go shining up the piping
18. time goes by , u want to up more boost
19. ur mech says , time to metal gasket , afraid ur stock gasket might pecah
20. u get a metal gasket , also get a bigger bov, greddy type-s or type-r or hks racing.
21. next thing u know u lost ur response cos metal asket 1.5mm is in and the response u got is lil bit gone
22. to overcome it u want add more boost , cos safe ready marr got metal gasket
23. mech says NO-NO-NO , evo3 conrod is weak for high boost, only vr4 conrod can take the beating
24. u sit a while n wonder wht u can do . erm erm erm
25. u take the risk of boosting high maybe 1.4bar , tune the safc also maybe at this time u upgrade to safc2 already lor , maybe e-manage
26. u enjoy 1.4bar , but u feel like the car can go more
27. time to get standalone
28. but then u feel like the car not modded so much , why buy standalone la, so u dont buy it
29. time goes by , 1.4bar , boost SPIKEEEEEEEEE!!!!
30. ur 32mm actuator flapper is gone
31. to maintain high boost properly u go get a Tial 38mm wastegate , sure u want purple or blue colour , u want engine look chun :P
32. u sure u want to tebuk ur stock manifold and put Tial ?
33. u start looking in zth for stainless steel manifold with wastegate output
34. u will either go for it or just screw it and get ur stock manifold with wastegate
35. at 1.4bar finally ur turbine starts to leak oil cos boosting high everyday sure after 6months or more need to service, ur turbine was used in japan for how long redi man , sure need service
36. u will post in zth, wht to do mod to the td05 to get more power
37. by this time u will be typing in google.com , Td05 turbo upgrade
38. u will be in US Dsm sites seeing hybrid turbos, td05-20g , td05-Garrett
39. u will post in zth which one is better for street drive car
40. they will say upgrade , all fuel all ok or not , got management or not
41. u ask Tong turbo how much to upgrade 20g can or not , he will say just tambah sikit money can do for u , 20g Big Fin , port ur turbo for u also, u will also see big turbo in his shop and ask him the price , u will get poison , u will look and see "big turbo more g-force" , aiyaa tong any bigger abit than td05 ah , trade in kawtim la , ok done t04e or td06 , u smile while taking this snail home
42. plonk it in the car, in ur mind u still tink ur car is a street car, bt did u notice u r smoking every single fella on the road
43. u put the turbo in, SAFC2 and e-manage is out of ur lead
44. u look for microtech or haltech , fix it in , tune it up
45. u look sit inside ur car and notice, its now a beast. 400bhp , with racing clutch, with advan neova ad07 , bucket seats , new intercooler from infinite (kian please give me discount), rsm to see ur top speed 270+ , check ur 0-400m timing on rsm , brakes already upgraded to stop the 400bhp beast. u smile and say "i cant sell this car anymore cos i spent alot on it". bt again , "My Ride , My Pride". u will want to take it to the track and tiong cars for pleasure.

Yes. Optimum size depends on the size of your MAF sensor outlet.

In the first place... u need to ask yourself... why would u need a metal head gasket?? Why would u wanna get a thicker metal gasket, lowering your compression, worsening your engine response, and making it dangerous to drive around... coz' your paper gasket's main purpose is so that if anything goes wrong... your paper gasket will tear. Once metal liau... if anything goes wrong, u'll either blow a hole clean thru your engine head, or your pistons. =Þ U better be damn sure what you're doing if u're gonna plonk in a metal head gasket man.

Literally everything... except the oil cooler adapter is different. So if u wanna drop in a VR4 block, you have to get VR4 oil cooler adapter.
Oh... and flywheel is different... evo 7 holes, VR4 6 holes. So you can forget trying to get HKS or OS Giken twin plate clutches for EVO.. and start scouting for VR4 ones which are damn kau rare! haha...
 
1)I tought TD06 has a bigger housing and will have more lag, TD05 20g with smaller housing will be less lag and can plug and play using the ori piping.

2)Thinking of getting apexi dual funnel power intake, any reviews? So all I need is a 3" adapter then can use the ori hose.

3) Does that mean if I dont boost above 1 bar its ok to use standard gasket cos mine is old and i think its starting to leak so tought might as well get a thicker gasket.

4) That means i can just get a VR4 engine kosong and plunk it in , but then have to register again as the engine no will be different?
 
marlinished : metal gasket also comes with stock thickness, change to thicker only if u going to lower ur compression
td05 20g is good to go, bt make sure ur car has atleast 510cc injectors for gsr's

DOHC_16valve : as i know there is a mvec turbo car that is running on gsr halfcut, head plonk in mivec , td05 16g , it gave 297hp on wheels and it took part in
the Drag Battle , and it is still taking part but now with forged down bottom and GT35R ball bearing garrett machine.

find for the workshop la , its called DSP motorsports.
