Hi SIfus

Really in need of help in this.

I was looking for a civic..came across on this one .
Its a original jdm (blue tagged) civic ek3 1.5 multimatic..selling at 49k..
the interior and exterior or the car is quite impressive..

produce in 96 recon 2000..interior is build in with navigation system from japan..engine is normal efi..but gearing is multimatic..
the question i need to ask from all hondarian sifu is....

Is the car worth it to be bought over?..
can it be plonk with a b16a halfcut..with manual gears ( mounting same or different)
is that car different from other civics we have on the road ( handling wise to anything that u guys can think off)
maintenance of multimatic if i were to drive on with this engine on? )
bodykit styling from 96 to 99..possible?

plz>>

anything u guys have on advise , opinion, comments...anything at all....i need to know)
dowan to do any mistakes in buying this car..b4 getting some advises from u guys..

its worth i think.
no problem for u to convert it with b16a engine.
all mounting are the same provided its fr EK hafkat.

thanks for the reply..so that means i can convert a b16 halfcut into it isit..how bout if i wanna put in a eg halfcut( b16). will i need to tempered the chasis..

ek halfcut ( no need to change mounting)
eg halfcut (??)-- does this means that local ej needs to change their mounting too if changes to a b16 from eg?

wats the difference btw a local ej and this ek3 i saw..

as usual. comments, opinions are all welcome..

JDM is goooddd.... enuff said : )
 
u can change to 99 spec anytime

JDM is better
if u have a local ej then u will notice the different
even the sound u close the door is different :biggrin:

if not mistaken the mounting for auto is the same but they might need to do sumthing if auto to manual

with the 1.5 multimatic gear u can out run 1.6 auto
provided u know how to use this multimatic

i don't know much about B16A since i never had the money to buy the halfcut.

anyway... if u'r driving EK get an EK halfcut... easier to configure the wiring easier to troubleshoot. B16A from EK = OBD2

B16A from EG comes with OBD1 i think... different wiring.

talkin bout this civic multimatic..wats the difference btw a normal auto gb and a multimatic..any sifus can enlighten me on this point..
and is there any mechs out there that can fix this kinda gb if there is a problem in it.
really appreciate it...
read something on the net talkin bout a 3 stage vtec system that is in this engine...need more info on this from u sifus out there..


and another issue..
how can i check the condition of the car ( means of to check if its a potong car or if its not involved in a major accident b4..is there any way that i can check..from jpj or from the police ???
any idea anyone..

for kereta potong go to puspakom
for accident... no idea...

u have to ask the owner is tat eng is vtec or non
or u just try to look for vtec solenoid
in the link given by EG8

if u wan to tranplan eng den i advise u take B16b rather than B16a
 
Hi sifus,

Have anyone here uses an ek3 with converted b16A in it?
wat mods have you done to the car..( wolud love to listen some coments from u guys)

heard that the ek3 suspension systems, the wheel base of the car, weight and length are differnt from normal civic..will that be a difficult task for those who wanted to install in after market parts?

Mine was EK3 4doors and converted with B16A for past 4 years.As i can say, so far i dun have any problem or issue when installed after market stuff...

So this means that ur previous engine was a 1.5 multimatic?
i heard from frens saying that this civic ek3 ferio which is imported from japan is different from our local civic in terms of the size and weight...is it true?

iam just worry that if i had purchase it, then it will be difficult for me to look for spare parts in the near future...by the way, which halfcut did u source to be transplant into ur car..
B16A from eg or ek4?

Yes, the original engine was 1.5 vi and come with multimatic gear box

There's not much different but as i can say, the JDM is much more better quality than our local assembled e.g dashboard & econd panel which originally come with digital panel. For the size, there's no different but YES for weight. May be this is because of engine itself :)

B16A from eg or ek4?
Since day 1 i dun have any problem hunting parts coz most of the "Honda Kaki" normally knew where to get it. Either you wanna to get for brand new from Honda authorized dealer shop or re-cond parts from half-cut shop (kedai potong la..). All up to you to decide.

Mine B16A taken from EG halfcut and used wiring OBD0.

actually, seeing this two cars as comparison to which shall i buy..
now that sifus have enlighhen me on the ek..would love to know some of this honda ES.

As i know, this car is not actually for those who love modding..( little bit can le)..
do anyone of u know wats the engine code for this vtec machine...test drive one of it but i cant seem to feel the vtec opening. is it a mild vtec compare to a b16?
is there a way to control my vtec system besides putting in a VAFC?
is there a indicator or a some sort of device that i can make sure its a vtec engine ( if u guys cant tell me the engine code)..i dont wanna make a mistake where i buy a vti on....

last but not least, bodykits? besudes the rx2 bodykit, any nice ones around the market?

ps: anyone that owns one, mod one can alwaz give me some advise or comments on this car..

ES running on D17A
of course the vtec opening is wayy milder than dohc vtec, single cam mah, what do u expect.
you can do custom bodykit, grandpire in sunway have a moulding if im not mistaken.
ES is quite affordable i must say , running around rm70K plus these days

so there is nothing much that i can do on the engine which improves the HP.
how bout if i add a vafc?
will it effect the vtec activation system.. in term of power..not to just decrease the rpm for vtec to open..

i think nothing much that i can do in terms of increase the power beside just putting in nice rx bodykits rite..
