Hydraulic Lifters for 4G93T

bro, i thought u said that ur engine doesn't have any lifter noise on the mivec engine??? if so, why u need to remove the relief spring valve?

best to check ur engine blueprint if those washers u found are OEM or not to confirm.

IMHO, if after installing washers into the relief valve spring doesn't solve the lifter noise, then there could only be 2 reasons:

1. lifter internal spring has broken
(which i doubt very much due to reasons explained previously)

2. relief valve spring in oil pump has gotten way out of OEM spec, despite installing washers

therefore, as 1st stop guide to solving the problem, suggest to replace entire oil pump to brand new, or find a second-hand oil pump and replace relief valve spring. this option should be cheaper than replacing all lifters. after experimenting myself on this issue, i WILL NOT suggest a lifter change becoz:

i. that's not the problem (unless its broken...which is highly unlikely)
ii. its very expensive to change lifters (ridiculous price to pay to upkeep old cars)
iii. have to go to the root of the problem, which i have found out is the relief valve spring located in the oil pump

CAUTION: DO NOT over-add washers into the relief valve spring assembly as it MAY lead to excessive high pressure in top engine head. For my engine (Mazda B8 - 180), i added 2 standard type washers. This was about 2 years ago, and has totally solved my hydraulic lash adjuster ticking noise :)

good luck to you bro

oh bro...so sorry i din read this post.....

ic ic ic, i fear you may have a serious problem now :bawling:. do you mean water was mixed with engine oil in engine block?????????? if that's the case........then my gosh :banghead: ...... happened to me before and my engine head was burnt !!!!! sumore you said ur engine stalled ka???? i had to replace my engine head then bro..... ur case sounds very much unfortunately like a case of f**ked lifters dy....

best you immediately change engine oil and re-change every 1000km for a couple of times to thoroughly clean up the engine block.....

i assume u've let ur mechanic check, everything ok with the head????

Well... I opened up my oil sump on Tuesdays.... Noticed there isn;t any oil water mixture in the oil pan. No teh tarik color...Bearing no offset movement.... Everything seems OK.

For the past week of driving, the temperature seems stable. But noisy...

ic....so the lifter noise has come about since that incident ?

maybe a couple of oil changes would return ur engine back to original condition....

have used idemitsu oils before, really nice and smooth (better than motul !!) , but no diff on the lifters. now using mineral oil (the cheapest available for sale...Duckhams) and still no lifter noise :).

havent heard about duckhams for a long time, not since my std engine was taken out years back.. i prefer bardahl, thinner then duckhams. nowadays, nuthing fancy me like molybdenum does, lol

lol....old engine need thick oil dy....thin oil engine will eat like crazi

Lolx.... I hope so... I using synthium 15W-50. SHould be thick enough...

BTW, actually my last oil change was 7-8000 km... the noise came back at around 6oookm. my fault

lol, dats too long for an oil change.. err, what engine oil were u using?

agree with bro extreme !!!! tooo long !!!

bro speed, maybe its best to buy some cheap mineral oils and change every 2k for 2 times just so that all the parts are being lubricated and 'cleaned' after the 'incident' .....

i hope ur lifters have by now improved :)

btw, Dukhams are also made 'environmental friendly'.....the color is green ! save the world abit......like President Obama said "the future lies in clean energy"

Lolx... Environment is always my priority other than smoking and car... I quit using plastic bags like 4 years ago... Ocasionally once in a green moon....

walau eh !!! that's great !!

apparently plastic bags end up in the ocean and sea turtles mistake it got jelly fish then eat it then they will die coz can't digest.....

also : STOP EATING SHARK FIN SOUP !!!

Haha... I can't promise that.... But there are other things we can do to the Earth... Automotive is one bad threat to the environment.... Hehe...

err, i just remember one important thing, not dat saving mother earth isnt important but weve gotten a bit outta track here, lol

i remember taking a ride in a modified hilux, (bigger turbine, boost 40psi, bigger pipes, bigger coolers, etc) dat produces approx. 200hp (a lot ler jugek for a turbo diesel). the thing is, when riding dis monster, the clatter coming from the engine was very smoothen out dat i initially tot it was using a 1jz. then, joshua (millennium was the responsible party for d modification) told me dat the engine is using lucas 50weight monograde oil.

iam not suggesting anything, but ive bought myself a monograde 40weight oil, just to see how it will affect the lifter. wish me luck guys!! yes, i know.. iam locco

I tried LUCAS 20W-50 also... Good oil... But RM50/liter Each service is RM200

20-50 lucas is the fully synth!!! wowowowoooo, icant afford dat woowowowowoooo...

..........

yes, i go loony when hearing about sumthing expensive.. iam meskin, wowowooo

anyhow, the mono 40weight seems thinner, much thinner then any multigrade (anyone) dat ive ever poured out, giloss!! i can imagine how thin a monograde 50weight wud be..? then, how does it quieten the diesel clatter laa? shudnt thicker oil do dat better then a thinner oil? i guess lubricity plays an important role here instead of viscosity..

*put thinking cap on*

They worked on my mechanic's 4g93t. It's gonna take a while before the lifters get quiet. When I had mine, i had a few days in my engine only... The oil filter relocation hose gave way on the nipple before the lifters mouth got shut. I can't afford another 4 liters on the same month. So I gave up trying... My foreman laugh and said... Ini orang Kaya... Flush engine with Lucas fully syn.

But I drove my friend's car into the garage for service 2day... Lifters was making noise... After serviced with Lucas 20w-50... To my suprise, the lifters really quiets down... But he've been using the oil for some time.... Even when it make noise, after oil change... Quiets back... But he's working offshore oil n gas... Kaye la, can afford.

bro speed & bro xtreme,

howz the progress with ur lifter noise??? any updates from you guys ??

for me, my cheap cheap mineral oil is better for my lifters than idemitsu !!!!! engine is even more quite !!! now my complain is bloody air filter (K&N) noise is too loud :)

what cheap mineral oil tony? i bot a mono grade 40, very cheap, 200ml of the damn stuff made my lifter taps, but very lil. the thing is, FC got better, lol. wtf kan? i must be getting senile dah ni

annoyed by the noise, i bought a can of bardahl 1 to quieten it.. to my amazement, it performs okie jugek.. dah senyap dah, anybody tried dis before?

basically, its a 30mono weight oil (as thin as the 40weight mono i poured in prior), wit a lot of ZDDP dat acts as antiwear additive. the last time i did a research on bardahl, they contains a good number of moly jugek

tony, what cheap mineral oil? if its not giving noise, it doesnt mean dat mineral is giving u good protection

Maybe he's refering to my case to use some cheap mineral oils to service in a more frequent mileage so that the bad oils in my engine can be removed/replaced completely...

Some thicker oil...

BTW, molybdenum is does not quiet down the lifters. It only lubricates them.

Molybdenum with disulfide is used as a solid lubricant and a high-pressure high-temperature antiwear agent. It forms strong films on metallic surfaces and is a common additive to HPHT greases—in case of a catastrophic grease failure, thin layer of molybdenum prevents contact of the lubricated parts.

If u know of this brand Amway engine oil... U can see metalic particles in the oils... That is molybdenum...

Haiz.... So, still noisy...
Planning to go for the Aussie lifters.... But Aussie dollars jacked 14cents in 4 days... haiz....

i know about the moly, iam using the amway's, hehe.. solid lubricant is the future as they say it in nano technology
