I wreck my MR2 :(

Khoo are you the new owner of iexit car? Need to take it easy with MR not only MR2. It has a character of it's own and not a very forgiving one as you have heard from so many new owners. Whack it and it will bite you back. Truly a drivers' car not one with all the gizmos like Skylines (he he) or the pappa rich 350z, Evos, Scoobies but raw back to basics stuff....just you and the machine bro.

The caused of this accident is i dodged a bastard light green Vitara+Idiot auntie who suddenly turn into my direction..........the speed is around 90-110km/h+drizzly wheather.........360*spin....then the car smash to road kerbs........front bumper crack....rear rims n dics was break-apart........not a major case but quite saddish la...........dun knw when i can bring back my 2............!!!!!!

MR2 is a Mid Engine Rear Wheel Drive... not a Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive car... so it makes things more complicated but enjoyable :-) + don’t forget MR2’s new and old don’t have any electronic gismos to keep the driver form over doing it

Its not hard to control, but you've got to learn how to do it, and always remember your limits. In fact MR set ups are great for handling... i.e. Single Seater race cars and supercars

khoo, no need to apologize its your car dude... you just have to drive the car more often to get use to the way it handles.. do some autocrosses, it’s a good safe way to accelerate the learning process. I've only lost control of the car 2 times in the pass, once in front of TOM'S driving up to genting (I was driving slow also) and the other learning to slide the car... so it happens don't worry about it.

Sorry to hear about your accident Khoo.
Driving an MR2 is easy..just keep it cool and drive slowly when driving in the rain.
Things you can do to help improve the cars stability (on dry) :

1)change bottom engine subframe to 245 version (93 spec and above)
- it has longer toe control arms
2)change the anti-roll bars
- stock anti -roll bars are soft and induce a lot of snap oversteer when pushed to the limit.
3)very important - invest in good tyres especially for the rear.
4)get some strut tower bars. Provides more rigidity to your body.

Another thing to remember - you're not driving an FF car (Front wheel drive, Front Engine Placement) ! It's an MR, meaning more weight behind and less forward.
Therefore it requires :
1)earlier braking before corner (Slow in, moderate out), braking hard in corner is a BIG no-no!
(many people learn this the hard way)
2)different driving/cornering lines ie. entry and exit
3)No hard-acceleration and deceleration in the corners (learn heel & toe)
4)lightning reflexes (if all else fails...hahaha)

Hope this tip helps for the newcomers to MR/FR cars. :)
For item no.4 , should something go wrong, pls look for TOMS for parts-sourcing. :)

Thx Mickey sifo.........:top::top:

Marcus....PDC hv all d abv items been installed?im not so familiar wif the background of this car. did i miss anythg else?

MRMIC, The car is already using 245 sub frame :-) - TRD anti roll bars (front and rear) - TOMS tower bars (Front & Rear) - Front complete PU bushing, and i think Vincent just changed the tires... so key is to learn to drive the car and remember engine is behind you so weight transfer is very important

Khoo, Yes it has. I can give you a list of the mid if you want.

OK..thx ....:tee::shakehands: Hope can meet u guy's soon......

Ya.....luckily no cars coming from behind too....if not.......:stickyman::help::stickyman:

see other car wreck i dun really feel that pain, but when i see a mr2 wreck, somehow felt really painful...

Hi All MR bros, I tot I wud share my experience with a spin out in 2006 on the Karak KL highway right after the Genting Sempah Tunnel on the way to KL at the 60 KM/h slopping winding stretch.
This stretch is a killer when the road is wet. I learnt my lesson, engage in high gear always.
I spend some time to do some search and consultation and found that not only the tyres and driving skill / technique is important, the suspension geometry plays a part of it.
Most of us lowered the car for stability and good look, the hidden danger is the wheel camber problem.
When we lowered the car, the lower arm will change its geometry either being parallel to the ground or pointed upward ( depends on how low the car being set ). Here comes the problem, during a sharp corners, the car will tend to roll and the lower arm will be pushed up, changing the camber of the wheel from negative to positive and thats will result to an oversteer much easily. The rear toe link will also do the same effect of changing from rear toe-in to a rear toe-out. The front will increase toe-in further . These combination will throw the rear out instantly. I have yet to find the front toe link adapter, saw it in the HyperTune book but have not seen any locally, TOM ( Alvin ) pls. have a look out from half cut.
The solution to counter this is to install the negative camber adapter for both the front and rear.
Btw, TOM's have both the front and rear adapters ( replica & Ori ) available. I strongly recommend all SW20 owners to have them installed. Watch / check the geometry of both the front and rear lower arms. It would be smart to modify the rear toe link attachment. Pls. take note all cars are not designed for lowering without proper modification.

My costly experience have taught me well not to take things for granted, everything has a limits.
SW20 is a well built sport car with an excellent body structure, built like a tank but will not be not able to take an uncontrolled impact. The suspension are well designed for purpose for a sport car. This car is worth keeping guys !! I reckon I need a proper driving lesson , and would suggest a group lesson by professional instructor. I would be very happy if anyone can organize a group driving lesson for all MR drivers. Cheers and happy cruising................
