IACV Tak..Tak Sound.

Are you sure our tank is 70L? Have you ever fill up till RM189.00?

Yes i agreed with Yu911 u might get 550km to less than 600km when u drive on the highway by just going easy on the pedal but not anything above 600km . Our tank is indeed 70L. But u have to run on a empty tank b4 you can fill up with RM189.00 . hehehe..

Re: IACV Tak..Tak Sound.l

when you buy cars in Au you got option to get larger tank.
Yes there r lot of weird or extreme mods in AU; eg. converting our vq engines to turbo charge, from ff to fr . They could even swap 20B (australian 3 rotor engine) to a granny VW van. I dont hear any this conversion here. Do u think that Tan Chong Motor would offer such an option?

sb3: i travel quite frequent...recent trip...kl-sg.petani total trip was 79Xkm on a full tank
hiway=385km X 2
sg.petani town driving = 2Xkm

as usual for me driving on da hiway 100-110kmh rarely more den dat.

550km per tank on da hiway?
maybe yo car need to have a check up....ever ask yoself there might be a problem wt da airflow sensor? fuel regulator? etc etc...

gud luck

Just back from Singapore. Did measure from toll to toll i got 345km for 25liter of Vpower @3.15, ie 13.8km/l, with new platinum spark plug.

you got a new or used MAF? its good u fix up the stall, its sometime pain in the azz..

going highway the fatty really a fuel saver. I managed to get near to 700km during 2008 CNY, with 90% highway driving, the 750km really achievable with 100% highway drive.

550km look to me its 60/40 ration (highway/city)

i got the used one lah... of course, new one can't tahan lah with the price.

However, after putting in the nissan platinum spark plug which cost me RM240, the engine vibrates more. Which one should I look into now? ICV, Coil or Injector?

I would place my bet on injectors . Clean your injectors not with injector cleaner but leave it to the pros eg: ultrasound cleaning. Also check your TPS coz if u could go s'pore with
your car i suppose the vibration only happens during idling or slow speed, right? Certain part of the resistor on your potentiometer (TPS) could have worn out, as such the tps could not send the signal to the ECU to provide accurate spark timing and fuel.

it is directly attached to the throttle body . it come with 2 connectors wires with six pins of which 2 pins for power , 2 pins for signal and 2 pins for ground. One of the connector is linked to the auto trans ecu (changes gear after receiving signal from tps).
The tps however could be adjusted slightly if your idle is out of range ( by a pro. technician). If adjustment does not relief or help the rough idle or slow speed, the unit needs to be replaced and adjusted again accordingly.

yes, the vibration is during the "N" or "D" or "R" when in brake.

i know my timing is out (lower), but not too sure what is the cause of it.

Does TPS affects rough idling or cause vibration, as i know it will affect idling range (too high or too low). I have checked its voltage at closed Throttle and full throttle position, it is within the range (0.4 and 3.96).

Hi Law,

Not sure if you have done this
- Ground the ECU
- Ground the MAF (aka AFM)
- Check the knock sensor
- Check any vacuum leak
- If you can, check the voltage to the ECU also

Many time, the problem will be solved with a regrounding.

when you apply brake, it take vacuum, maybe you can look on that area.

Not sure if you have done this
- Ground the ECU - no
- Ground the MAF (aka AFM) - no
- Check the knock sensor - no error code leh...was replaced 2 years back.
- Check any vacuum leak - not sure
- If you can, check the voltage to the ECU also - not sure how to check. could it be ecu problem also?

when you apply brake, it take vacuum, maybe you can look on that area. - shouldn't be as the problem happen also when on "N" or "P" without in brake.

i've similar engine stalling while detrottle when any gears is anggange. however da problem gone when i increase da idle to 8XXrpm, but i still notice it not totally solve...coz i notice dat only sumtime when i dethrottle da rpm drop to like 2XXrpm n den goes back to normal 8XXrpm in within second.

- Ground the ECU - YES
- Ground the MAF (aka AFM) - YES *dun fell any difference b4 n after
- Check the knock sensor - going to
- Check any vacuum leak - no broken o disconnected hose i can see wt my eyes

The Throttle position sensor (TPS) as in the name detects the angle of the throttle position and sends a signal to the ecu to provide optimum fuel and spark to the engine. Say, if the tps sends the wrg signal to the ecu , it wont be able to accurately provide fuel/spark for combustion. I suppose the reason why it causes rough idling/vibration during idling or slow speed is because most of the time the needle/ resistor inside the tps would point at idling or slow speed position . Overtime there would be less contact between the needle/resistor and the wall of the tps. This will somehow prevent the tps to send the signal to the ecu at idling or slow speed position.

We cannot adjust the timing on the VQ engines, hence its electronically controlled.
Note: You can just borrow from other felio members who have spare throttle body (incl. the tps) and swap to your engine and see whether it solves your idling problem before considering replacing it with a new unit. Let me know if it works. Thanks..
