No gain control, no XO control unless you run it thru your passives and then you will need another active XO to run the mids, and can only control the mids gain, thus causing more headache to tune and to troubleshoot.

Not a good solution....If want to bi amp or go active, do it properly, else just stick to passives. Can also use the -3 or -6db at the passives.

Use thincker copper cable to slow or reduce the harshness, but the better way is to set the gains, XO it properly and EQ it.

Every HU nowadays got fader control to control front and rear speakers. If using a 2ch amp for speakers and an amp for sub, we must install a pre-amp right? The RCA pre-out from HU is normally follow rear channel. So if we power the tweeter using front channel then it will not disturb your amp. I setup my tweeter in this way, but I add a cap and a bulb to control the power input and bass.

tron07 is not talking about the fader thingy...
he's talking about the gain, xover......
you need to tune and select the specific xover point for your tweeters and mids... not simply put a cap and high pass the tweet......

nowadays HU got 2 or 3 RCA outs and the amps have onboard LP/HP filters, so what for put pre-amp? if u need an eq some HU have them built in also. better use the money for that to upgrade to a better HU with all these features. pre-amp eqs usually induce noise to system, especially the cheaper ones.

It depends to people's preference. Like me, I don't want the tweeter to come out bass and at the same time I don't want the tweeter sound too high as it will spoilt our ears on the long run. So the best way is power the tweeter from HU, but another problem comes out from it, the power that goes in to the tweeter not filtered. (got bass) So, add a cap to high pass it.

I guess what I'do is find a suitable amp to amp my componet (Mid & tweet) and might be rewired the tweeter from Passive Xover to the tweeter with mellow type of cable.
