Well we all have our doubts ... we go to one place to dyno ... we get this HP ... we go to another place, well we get another figure ... :banghead:

yes dyno's can be altered and it all depends on the tuner weither to alter it or not ... rumours ? ive heard so many in regards to dyno machines and also tuners ... :thefinger:

im just wondering which of the machines are actually acurate if it is not altered ... :driver:

care to help me out ... this goes out to all the sifu's to give their open views and please keep this thread clean ... :wavey:

in my opinion, do not use the dyno to know ur hp
use the same dyno again n again to see ur gain in hp after modifications

i have heared few dyno claims that even after hearing it, i know it cant be true

wow stock evo 3 so much hp..
tot it was like 180 or 190hp at wheels only..somthing like that rite?
what dyno do they use?
 
Whatever Dyno I used for tuning is the most accurate.
When I used Dynojet, so that will be the most accurate for me
and when I used Dyno Dynamics, then that machine is the most
accurate.

If you asked me what machine I'm favour of, then I'd say Dynapack.
I don't have to take care of the steering when tuning..... just hold the
laptop and kick the pedals.

well in some cases some tuners claim they can punch out more hp/torque than the other tuner is we go to dyno at their place ... well im not the kind of person who gets influenced easily ...

different tuner ... different setting ... different hp/torque ... but then how would i know the difference if the dyno machines are incorrect ... :confused:

Any tuners with dyno's in their workshop that dare say that their dyno machine is the closest thing to accurate ??? :driver: im just wondering ... :smokin:

its just a war that has been going on when i go to TT's and meet up's ... "that dyno not good ... why dont you go to ... " " that tuner no good because dyno spoilt ... try going to ... "
"that tuner play around/adjust with dyno ... sure HP go up one "

All dyno machines in Malaysia are not calibrated to ONE standard. If the machines needs compulsory calibration by ONE body such as SIRIM, then, all machines will display the same results wherever you do the dyno test despite various brands available.

Don't our statements above sincere enough for you?

Dyno machines are not cheap stuff. So, that depends on the capability and preferences of the tuners to choose which one they are able to purchase.

They claim their Autodyn 30 All Wheel Drive models is the "WORLD'S MOST ACCURATE DYNAMOMETERS". If I were to have that machine in Malaysia at this moment, can I make the claim that I have the most accurate dyno?

Unless it's been calibrated and certified by the calibration bodies such as SIRIM or 'Bahagian Timbang dan Sukat' Kementerian Perdagangan and approve by Jabatan Kilang dan Jentera, then everybody have no offence to claim that they have the best and most accurate machine.

Hi Guys, in actual fact all dyno's are accurate as all can be self calilbrated. There is no need to to adhere to a standard as power is measured from torque and this is derived from calculations in the control software. These calculations are fixed as the math standard is just physics. However its the dyno operator that needs to compensate for differences in air teperature, water temperature, tyre pressure and temperature, strap down force on the roller, different tyre compound etc. too many variables to consider. even engine oil and gearbox oil type and temperature can make a difference.

Thats why racing teams use an engine dyno and not a chassis dyno for tuning as nothing is as accurate as an engine dyno where every variable is taken into consideration. I myself use a Mustang Dyno but only for tuning as the ultimate power number is just a number, for me its more important how the car drives and feels on the road. The area under the power curve is more important than the short small peak at peak power. how often and long can u sustain driving with your car at 7000rpm on the city streets?

d most accurate dyno is butt dyno.. change engine oil... sit inside d car.. rev abit... WAHSEH!! 10 HP ADDED!...

my guess not malaysia :P

Actually I'm in PJ. In the middle of relocating to Ara Damansara. Have to complete reno 1st. But I'm not a running a workshop, I use my dyno to tune my racecar for R&D and my roadcars, sometimes tune frens cars. My Mustang MD100 is a small unit for cars up to 450 wheel horsepower, 2 wheel drive. Will let you know once its running.

if got dyno contest , the owner will pening la ha3. cannot make more profit than chasis dyno.
for me dyno is a machine+computer. so it is better than road tuning. when the dyno machine cost rm xxk or rm xxxk it must accurate to leave a factory before reach to buyer. sometime depend on the owner of dyno wanna curi ayam or not ha3:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

dyno is a tool..as long its good and easy to use and its able to tune at every rpm and every load point without and hastle.....( without retuning it on the road coz the afr on the road and dyno is diff...then the dyno is no good..if the afr on the dyno and road is same means the dyno is accurate and good...and blah blah blah...n if afr and horsepower all lebih kurang la...
sometimes u use a gt30 and someone tells u he making close to 700hp..sounds like rubish when u know a gt30 wont make that much hp..hmmm...so all this can be taken to consideration when someone wants to tune their car or dyno or buy a dyno...

and if u dyno on 1 dyno best to keep using that so than u can see the jumps on diff mods...
like example..today someone came to do dyno shootout...
they made 113hp at wheels then owner said he made 130hp in another dyno..then i had to explain that ours is a load dyno the results will be lower,blah blah blah.....
so like that la...

for tuners to tune cars more 7000 rpm (constant) on the road is impossible...
thats where the dyno came in
