Mark,

Our pleasure!!! Hehehe...

LanEvo,

Wil come back to u on de pricing once i got enough quantity to bargain with SS la... Hehehe... :_:

So anyone esle interested in this HKS LA clutch???

just wondering hks la better or gd pro?? thinking changing my exedy hyper single and wanna try twin plate... and the price for la and gd pro?

stopid9,

IMO, you can't compare LA with GD Pro, one is single plate and another is twin plate. for sure GD Pro got better grip but driveability, LA is way better. If wanna compare LA with Exedy Hypersingle, then ok. Just my two cents

Hi, just wondering if I have a clutch problem. There are a few times I drive my car, there is a short chirping sound when a gear is engaged. This happened only a few times and at random. Is my clutch slipping?

I just bought the car from a car dealer with 477xxx km on the odometer. The car is mostly stock except for a HKS blow off valve, a bigger exhaust (i think) and a turbo timer. So I don't know if the clutch is stock or not.

bernardyeo,

Hard to tell without actually seeing your car, so could be any number of reasons. From worn pressure plate to squeaking clutch pedal, so dowan to scare you without any details la :D

To test if your clutch is slipping, just drive in 4th or 5th gear, drop your revs to about 2500rpm and floor it. If your clutch is starting to slip, you'll see your revs flare for a moment when full boost comes in before dropping down to normal.

If your revs climb at the same rate as the car accelerates, then your clutch is fine.

Hi Cannonfodder, I tried the 5th gear first. 2500RPM, floor it, revs climbed to red line, car picks up slowly, though the rev meter didn't dip. I tried that again on 4th gear and the results are the same. I suppose the clutch isn't slipping.

But after I tried that with the 5th gear, I had a slight burning smell in the car. Could be some smell from outside so I drove a while more. Still had that smell. Burning clutch?

If revs climb to redline and then only the car accelerates slowly, then your clutch is already toast. The smell you get is deffo the scent of burnt clutch.

You may still be able to limp around with the clutch but it's advisable that you get it changed ASAP. Once your clutch starts to slip, it tends to go very fast and can leave you stranded without gears at the most inopportune moment.

My clutch slipped. It was still ok this afternoon when my brother took the car out. But when I had to leave the office tonight, I couldn't move the car beyond a snail's crawl. Had to call a tow truck. So now it's back to the mechanic's.

I need some recommendations. My car is basically stock, I use the car for quick overtaking, I don't race, I don't want a punishing clutch when I'm in a traffic jam. I am a little tight after just buying the car and just spending nearly RM2k on a major service and 2 new Potenza GIII tyres. Is there a clutch that is more durable than the stock clutch? Based on what I'm like, what can you recommend and what price should I be expecting? Thanks!

HKS LA looks n feels gud.........latest could be around 3.6k i heard .....

btw.....do u mean your clutch slipped just today ???? after all the tests ???

Yeah it slipped earlier tonight. This morning I tested it on the way to work. Then my brother took it out of the office. When I wanted to go home tonight, it just slipped. I almost couldn't even get it out of the parking lot.

HKS LA quite expensive for me right now. How much is a stock clutch anyway?

Exedy organic is about RM1.5K for the pressure plate and cover. Add another RM200 if you want to change the TOB.

You may also need a new flywheel, since your clutch has been slipping so badly, it's quite likely that your current flywheel is also toast. Factor in another RM900 for that, but see if you can have the current one resurfaced if you wanna save some.

bernard I have a used stock clutch set for sale....cheap cheap if u wan :D PM me la if interested ;)

Thanks for the advice and offer guys. But I've already told my mechanic to get a new stock clutch. Next time round I might try one of those aftermarket ones.

BTW, is it true that those aftermarket clutch are either on or off? That the car will lurch forward once the clutch reaches its biting point?
