recommend me a HU below RM350

Hi guys, need to help out my friend who's on the look out for a budget HU to replace his tape unit that came with the car.

His budget is maximum RM350 for a CD/Tuner unit, but MP3 is kind of optional, good radio reception is a must though.

What are the players that fall in this category? Been playing too much of sub-RM1k HUs so i'm not too sure what the lower end market have to offer. Please do kindly advice. Thanks!

If mp3 not a must(will you regret after some time?) Then I think you can survey Pioneer lower end. The tape player still can sell at around rm50-100 in Lelong, but acc shop will take it at less than rm50. So if your friend can sell it then top up with rm350, I think can get a better HU at rm400..

at that price, just grab any model that u can find.

so far i noted Sony will be the cheapest vs. Kenwood & Pioneer.

Well... RM350 is tops for his budget, his tape deck is broken, so i doubt the shops will want it back, haha...

Hm... well.. Kippo, i have to agree that Sony seemed to be pretty decently priced for the same units. But still a bit wary of Sony with their sensitive CD mechanism, ain't too sure if it's worth getting.

Still inclined to the Pioneers though, maybe coax him into getting the 3850MP or the older 3750MP if can still find it.

just get him to buy the best features that he can get for RM350.

i bet if u ask here, ppl will start asking him to go for higher model etc.

Haha... the fact is, even myself is asking him to get higher models :_:

But well... knowing him, he's got a limited budget and no entertainment in the car is killing him, else i would have asked him to save up more for something else or i can sell him one of my extra HUs, but most are over his budget :(
