Michael Schumacher could launch his own Formula One team when his contract at Ferrari expires at the end of the season, according to Eddie Jordan.

The German, 37, has made it clear he would like to maintain some involvement in the sport when he decides to retire.
And Jordan, who gave Schumacher his F1 debut in 1991, believes the seven-time champion is already planning a launch.
He told F1 Racing magazine: "I believe the idea of Michael starting his own team is being discussed."
Jordan believes Schumacher's reputation would make him a powerful name in the sport, adding: "Michael would open doors that other people find locked. "I wouldn't be surprised if he encouraged Volkswagen - perhaps using their Audi brand - to come to Formula One."

woohoo!!! go audi!!

That's highly possible.

Mercedes is in F1 with McLaren. BMW even have a full factory outfit now. Audi could make an entrance. The Germans just like to fight with each other now that they can't fight anybody else, hehehe.

hope so.
audi once kicked ass in the group b rally, and is now kicking ass in lemans and doing not bad in dtm, wish to see what they can do in F1.

There is nothing the boys from Ingolstadt like better than to beat the boys from Munich.

Schumacher's more than a brilliant driver. He's a technical genius. He would have been a chief engineer or technical director if he wasn't a driver. I think with that plus his calm head, he'll make a great team boss.

as i can recall, in the past, in an interview with schumi, he rules out the possibility of coming back to the f1 sport with different role, if he decide to retire from F1. He wont do like what Alan Prost did, start his own F1 team, because he is not good in managing team. but who know, eveyrthing is possible.

driving a f1 car and managing a team is 2 different business.

step aside of schumie.. how about rossi apprearence in F1..? heard rumors said he'd able clocked slightly faster than schumi even alonso..

Alain Prost was a great driver but he was always known to be an all out attacking racer, very much like Kimi Raikkonen is now. Michael is a different driver altogether. He's quick, extremely intelligent and is a great leader in Ferrari. You hear the way he carries himself and speaks during post race interview, you immediately know he's a intelligent guy. Besides, he's good at motivating his people and gives very good technical feedback to his crew. Frankly, i think he'll be a great team owner.

As for Rossi, he'll inject a new breath of excitement if he ever joins F1. And this is NOT because he's fast but he's a joker on the track. Whenever i watch Moto GP, i look forward to him winning and doing all sort of crazy celebration antics on the track. I could imagine him clowning around during interviews and doing lotsa donuts and tire burnouts if he wins.

schumie had did a very well when he was in ferrari not only as a great driver with excellent skills but he manage to take control any situation with his experiences and motivate attitude.. also i do believe he able to perform new F1 team & this could lead more challenging in F1 season, indeed..

Alonso look down on Rossi by saying that he can do the same if he move to MotoGP..but i doubt that... cos from my point of view moving from 2 wheels to 4 wheels is easier than those moving from 4 wheels to 2 wheels.... :)

yes ur rite evo3, it's not such an easy moving from 4 wheels to 2 wheels.. it's because due to how do u control the machine is totally different especially 2 wheels machine where it relying on both physical rider+machine.. i don't mean 4 wheels are easier to control but this how the real action have been proven..

just my cup of tea.. :)

he did so in a v10, while the other 2 are using v8s

I'd rather he stay in Moto GP and continue to dominate there. But then again, maybe he needs a new challenge.

Kinda like his whacky way of celebrating a win.

Top sportsmen need new challenges. They need to be motivated. If there is no motivation there would be no point to compete, for them. If Rossi continues to dominate this season, I can see him making a change.
