tom,
yes i do agree with your reason 'there are plenty of other topics under the sun' (and moon as well!). but i hardly think it was 'obnoxious'. both articles were reported by major english dailies in malaysia. it's not as if i whooped something out of thin air.

But this IS your site afterall. So yea, i'll have to respect your pregogative in the matter. Not to worry, i'm not pissed off or anything. In fact, i'm surprised you let it run for as long as it did. But there is one thing i must say about the comments posted by fellow 'debaters'. Most of them (if not ALL) posted/commented without inciting hatred nor anything inflammatory. So you should be proud.

anyway, i shall endevour to post something less 'obnoxious' next time.

finally, kudos to you and joeker for moderating the site and doing a good job at it. keep it up!

That thread was pretty good, with mature posts (at least most of it) and it highlight the many "point" of the ministers comments. Serves to enlighten people about the peopl we trust ourselves and our country to. I can't see why the whole thread should be removed.

Even the Wafa Sultan thread was removed. Sigh...looks like we are consigned to follow the ministers "advice" and be like sheep. Let's herd them up.

Religion and race is a sensitive subject.

In certain parts of the world, wars and fighting are caused by them.

Yes it is sensitive. But does that mean the need to censor everything. It's like ZTH.com agrees with the minister and falls in line. See no evil, hear no evil, say no evil? Especially disapointing when you take into account that the posters have proven their maturity. There was no verbal attack on Islam or Muslims.

Is this not another display of fear to simply shy away from a topic because it treated as such a taboo? If the members could pull it off and discuss the matter with a great big dollop of maturity, wouldn't that be a better example of this forum?

well put. and i fully agree with that assessment. that said, can i then make a suggestion that you add to the 'General Talk' disclaimer that not only obnoxious posts will be deleted, but 'sensitive' issues are not to be debated/posted here as well? (just like when 'general talk and cock' was changed to 'general talk' due to some really inane postings).

in line with topics discussed/posted, moderation is necessary in ZTH as it's not a 'free for all' site, but rather a commercially run site (as well as one for all the automotive fans!!). hence, the moderation. and in moderation, there has to be boundaries as to what can and cant be said. This is what leads me to my suggestion for laying out some 'boundaries' as to what goes, and what doesnt. dont get me wrong, i'm not inciting (religious/racial) hatred nor violence nor am i a proponent of such absurdities. boundaries in this case provides direction and sets limits for everyone. and this should (in theory) lead to better postings.

in any case, as tom says, there are better topics under the sun.

silverfish,
start bleating like a sheep!! haha :_:

Yeah, if "sensitive" issues are not to be allowed, might as well make it obvious.

lol
oh well. i din even know my thread was deleted. lol
guess no religious discussion here then. back to NMT to read more rubbish talk

Everyone see things in a different way.

To some the thread might seem liberal and norm, but to others, it could be insulting and taboo.

For example, In the west homo and bisexuality is conformed, but in the east, people see it differently.

THerefore, pls refrain from discussing matters of Religion, Race and Politics.

This is anyhow an Aumotive Enthusiast forum.

I agree with that.

To some, automotive enthusiasts maybe looked upon as ultra left wing activists and car modding might be assumed as the work of satan himself. So how? Maybe everyone should start talking about what tea to have this evening and how their flowers grow and how god is great. How's that?

joeker taiko, yet again, i have to fully agree with your assessment in the matter!! this IS an automotive forum! so, technically speaking (based on your premise that this is an automotive forum) we shan't be discussing anything else other than automotive matters (basically means, no more random chicky pix, nor fishing, nor sex/love topics! some of these are taboo as well, no?). hahahahaha. but then again, i'm splitting hairs here.

anyway i shall wither away quietly and let it be :mouth_closed: .

happy posting to you all!!

it's the weekend! woohoo!!

fishy brother (or shall i start calling you sheep brother?? heh) live and let live. quit picking on joeker and/or tom. as i said, it's their prerogative in this matter, not yours nor mine to debate. joeker was made moderator for a reason (for his level headedness...altho he does talk some cock once a while....hahahahah).

case close??

We don exactly live in a free and fair world.

To those who hold true such virtues, welcome to reality.

I had to kill someone and sell my soul to Satan.

peerp preasure? it is His site, i know. I sure he has his reasosns.

"general talk" ~ isn this what it suppose to be ???

sure, we are all car enthusiast , but once in a while we do wanna discuss whats surround us daily, it makes us human. not sheeep, not some obedient pets nor chained doggies.

we all have our views, right wing, left wing, conservatives, liberals , ultras...but we are all humans with the curiousity to relate

talking at car forums can help relate(s) our brothers on each other views & better
(as oppose to baring fists at TT or as how some of our dear politicians does. )

if one could not relate or has no opinions on topics (discussing matters of Religion, Race and Politics.) ; the choice is his/hers to not to participate.

I like to be tickled /challenged with topics that interest/concern us malaysians,
to refain from showing opinions/sharing thoughts, only typifies how poorly as good malaysians we become.

there are good bits from several mature forumers here. it a pity that the gag doesnt allows education & understanding tolerence for all.

I realise that it is their prerogative. But I still feel I should put my point across to everybody else.

There is always a need to draw a line. I just hope I can change their mind to draw the line a bit closer to what I expect.
