Wider tires caused more fuel consuption?

The total diameter is almost the same, so which one is heavier as a total package?

What tyres are you using with size 195/70R13? Largest in 13" 70 series I have seen is 185/70R13.
And 215/45R16 also very rare. If not mistaken mostly in extreme tyres
I think the iron rims is heavier..

I might be wrong.. Maybe it's 185/70/R13 and 205/45/R16 I'm don't quite remember.. Using Nankang N2

Theoretically it will increase FC due to the reason that it has more traction and therefore more drag. But I think if you just up by 2 sizes, the difference is so negligible you might not even notice it.

Also, by going from 55 to 50, you reduce the total diameter of your wheels and therefore decrease the drive ratio which will result in less effort in acceleration. So it is balanced out. And if you do a lot of town driving instead of highway, you might even find an improvement in FC!

Go ahead! Do it! Wider tires are gooD!

If the width up 20mm but diameter is of correct conversion should not increase FC. Even increase should not be much...

Bear in mind, its 20mm per tyre

Total 20mm X 4 tyres = 80mm additional tract & rolling ressistance...

I can only agree that it will increase FC, but the amount of increase is questionable....:biggrin:

Nope, even in calculation is 20mm per tyre, the contact patch increase is not much. Contact patch is no bigger than the size of your palm.
I have gone up plus 3 factor from 185/70R14 to 215/45R17. Not much difference in FC but handling and performance increase is tremendous......:driver:

the diameter is about the same as the iron rims.. only width increased.. thanks guys

how about this.. Iron rims 195/70/R13 to Rays TE37 replica 215/45/R16.. will it increase?

Your speedometer reading will be about 0.5% faster than the reading on stock tyres.
Better handling but less comfortable. FC and braking distance should be no different as the weight different will compensate but need to factor in other issue like front tyres maybe scrapping the fender on full turn or rear tyres scrapping the fender on full load.

i see.. i tried it before.. front doesnt scrape fender on full turn and rear doesnt scrape on full load too..

must see also......wat type of tyre using.......performance 1.....more grip.....FC^
heavier rim n tyre.....FC^.........

:hmmmm:higher diameter.......in high-way........FC ??? maybe more save......bcoz tyre turning force are greater....

more grip ......braking distance should decrease.......

Now that you mention 185/70R13 to 205/45R16 is almost perfect fit. Difference only 0.3% bigger so everything is fine....:driver:
