Less should be more expensive, right?![]()
Not really. The higher the demand, the more expensive it is. That's not saying the DC2 is cheap mind you. It's quite old but still commands 50k more or less.. That's not a small amount!

There's one thing that puzzles me. At mudah, I saw DC2 (or even converted DC2) selling at around 40k-60k. But when I searched for EK9, many converted ones are selling more expensive than DC2. Ranging from around 50k-70k. Why? EK9 is better than DC2?

More popular with the Honda crowd, certainly.
Better? Depends. EK9 comes with 1.6 liter engines compared to 1.8 liters in the DC2R, but I think it's widely touted that the EK9's chassis is slightly superior.
EVO magazine and a recent poll in Speedhunters still regard DC2R as the best FWD car ever made though, ahead of the EK9.
I'm comparing Type Rs to Type Rs la..not converted ones. Some regard their cars converted but most of the times it's all cosmetics. Engines and chassis (especially chassis) are ignored, unfortunately.
I think setting a budget and a realistic horsepower target would help a whole lot to figure out what car is suitable. Without those figure, it's starting to feel like we're taking shots in the dark now...
EK9's better but they are pretty similiar, so it goes down to preference. DC2R is a bit more tail happy in the corners compared to EK9, which is more stable and neutral.
DC2R chassis spec is divided to two, 98spec with thicker roll bars, bigger brakes, and slightly tweaked spring rate compared with the 96spec. Even weight is similar (EK9 (with B16B) - 1090kg vs DC2R 98spec - 1080kg)
I would say the difference between the two is small if both are installed with B18CRs so going for the one with the better looks wouldn't be the wrong way to go about it.
Though, ori EK9s are much harder to come by in Malaysia compared to DC2R. Most are half-hearted converted ones.
Yep, fully legal. A few EKs and EGS running around with K series as well. Never heard of one in DC2 in Malaysia yet though.
K20A? Wah... good luck finding a 'reasonably' priced one. That's one mega expensive engine. Awesome.. but expensive

But EG and EK their max cc for their original is 1.6cc only. I thought there is a percentage limit of how much can the new engine cc exceed the older one?

Wait till K20A's price drop in future then.![]()
how about "temasik "cars..

Yep, certain percentage. Around 20% I think, not sure. If 20%, so it'll come to 1.9 liter.....can round up then?
Join the line, I've been waiting for quite awhile....haha

so TS, u decided on ur car yet?
Altezza with 1JZ-GTE is decent. For NA, VTEC offer the affordability and performance too!
Project car should be based on good chassis / handling.
