Hehe...

Since my last conversion, it has been 3.5 years now. My road tax saving was about RM4.2k, time for conversion again???

What is the price for 2.5 half cut now? Any idea?

Was surprise one of the chop shop asking RM3k for the 3.0 engine kosong.

Last month , a friend of mine told me (kedai potong staff) told me that 2.5l is more expensive than 3.0 or 2.0 due to more demand for 2.5l . quite a number of carnivals & rias have converted their engines to the felio's 2.5v6 due to availability & its bullet proof nature (longer lasting)

the 3L will cost higher, cause its not very common in Japan. the 2.5L its cheaper compare to 3L, and also 2L will be the cheapest.

in Japan, 2.5L are very common.

Try to find a 2.5l with a NEO DI stamped on the engine cover which is blessed with a little bit more horses (around 190 - 210ps) as compared to the standard unit (170-175ps).

NEO version of 2.5L V6 from A33 is called VQ25DD and is rather very rare in A33 as well....... the normal edition A32 has is VQ25DE.....

The 'NEO ' word suppose to give a lower fuel consumption too , right?

But the demand for 3L is lesser in Malaysia due to high road tax cost & fuel consumption. Moreover there r a few felio owners i know have downgrade their engines to either 2.5L or 2L.I often see quite a number of 3L half cut stacking up @ the kedai potong compared with 2.5 or 2L units

Anyone can let me know the labour charges for half-cut transplant? There is one quote me Rm1,600 (just labour, without fuel, oil etc....). Any comments?

Yes , it ranges from rm1,000-00 to rm1,600-00 depends also on the quality of the swap, I was charged for rm1,100-00 about 2 years back , but the good thing about this w/shop is that any defective component will be changed/replaced with a working unit. The engine layout and the wiring were neatly done. Till date I have no complains watsoever on the swap.

as told, 3.0L half cut is stacked mnore than 2.0 or 2.5L half cut, thats why it is mored expensive due to bigger demand...... but no doubt, 3.0L is the most impressed n most powerful in its class.... sweet.....

if you shop around, its not so easy to get the 3L 1/2 cut, the engine kosong also hard to get. Took me 2 months to get the 3L 1/2 cut in.

labor 1.6k its cheap.
When i did the conversion last year Jun, my mechanic charge me 2k++ for labor only, but than again, i know his quality of work, they strip my entire car and wiring, use the 1/2 cut wiring (engine and body) all the way to rear brake light. strip the 1/2 cut engine and change all the oil seals, and water pump.

My 3L 1/2 cut cost me about 4K, and that is consider cheap, it come with LSD, Active mount, active suspension, and complete uncut wiring all the way to rear brake light. The 1/2 cut mileage its only 74kkm, interior its clean, engine bay very clean.

Cost me about 8k for that conversion.

Last year when i was shopping for 1/2 cut, i basically shop around PJ, KL, Kajang, Selayang, klang, subang, old klang road area and can't find many 3L 1/2 cut. i did found 2, but compare to the 2.5L 1/2 cut i see its like 5 to 1 ratio. and condition of the 2 i found are also no good. and price for 3L to 2.5 is usually RM500 more for the 3L, i managed to find one with give equal price of 2.5L

Thanks Weikee...

Wah...it seems that the labour cost can varies from 1k to 2k++... So total conversion can buy half a cefiro 97 liaw... (Hear the dealer take in price is about RM15k++)

Yeah, the fatty price drop like flies these days as compared to a31s which are more demanding. but for the 'fatt siew yau' like us we just don't give a damn!

Lawcc r u planning to keep u felio long , otherwise just buy a newer felio with less maintenance/repairs as these cars r dirt cheap. But if u r keep your car for a couple more years then supp it up, mod it or pimp it up to a beautiful VIP RIDE !

when you buy the 1/2 cut, you check the chassis card, if the gearbox code end with V, its a LSD. i see it in 2.5L and 2L also.
