1jz E36 BMW frankensteining

After doing all this and making it pur like a kitten, probably nothing less than 50k.

So buying a sound/fine chassis, and a half cut donor car, stripped it all down and build, would have been a option worth looking at, right? hehehe

Once upon a time I was looking at Altezza 2JZ.

Yeah, most likely still need to spend time and money again to fix things but old cars are all like that.

That's why I also avoid too old cars that are already heavily modified like yours. I'd still consider old cars but should be close to stock hence easier to fix (coz I'm also not mechanically savvy) and then can upgrade to my own taste.

I like fixing things. I fixed everything from autogate, installing mirrors, installing ceiling fans, wall mirrors, cementing holes, swapping out fenders, installing coolers, etc. I find a lot of satisfaction in a fully functioning device that I DIYed. But I'm too OCD to make a business out of it. I'd be too slow.

Old car stock as possible and modders are two different breed......hhahhahahhahah:biggrin:

Yeah. If I ever got that Datsun 120Y, I'd SR20DET it and do all sorts of modern comforts in it. Nothing original except the body.

make a good writeup on the debut.

I might end up making a video. One S660 video is coming up. Waiting for my Mac to be done and I'll finish up that video. Gonna do one for my own car.

Yes actually. But the problem I have is finding a 1-stop-shop that can do everything in one place. Cuz going from Ampang to Glenmarie to Selayang and finally to Subang is damn taxing on me who lives near Kajang.

True to that, DIY usually because you like it neatly done, so will slowly do it. Business sense sure close shop.....hhahahhaha:biggrin:

Wouldn't a place that prepare race cars be able to do everything? Or maybe 2 places, 1 mechanical and another 1 for electrical.

He had tuner, wire man, then upholstery and painting so is 4 places......lol:biggrin:

What's in Selayang?

The tuner is based in Selayang. The ECU supplier (a friend) who's helping me has a mainline dyno which the tuner will be using to tune the car and that's based in USJ. My upholstery guy is in Glenmarie. My suspension is in Sri Rampai. My little secret mod is in Sunway. Paint is in Subang/Glenmarie border. And I stay near Kajang.

I don't know anyone who can do it all. The issue is my ECU is not supported by the big names like GT Auto (they don't tune this ECU) and I quite frankly don't trust the other Sunway shops purely only because I don't know anyone personally there. I know JC, Trial, etc all do good work but these shops are usually a friends friend that's there, I don't know anyone there.

Suspension guy and secret mod guy too.

What do you guys think about opening a shop that does it all? Like Westcoast Customs. One stop shop. I was thinking about opening a shop to do this but all I can do it think. I'm recall at one point of time WCC was going to open locally but didn't for some reason. Opinions?

Not easy as you will need a big place, not mentioning all the different personnel needed in different fields....:driver:

Actually that is what a main contractor does. He has all his contacts from tiling, cement work, carpenter, etc, etc, so he can do complete renovation since he has all his contacts to cover all the different fields.

That would be me. I'm the main con. You pass me the keys to your car, tell me what you want done, then I'll be the one handling your car and dealing with all the different tuners and whatever. You as the customer only has to deal with me.

Maybe I can get that started first. Then once my business is big enough I'll have one shop to do everything.

That is different already. This way you provide the service but not having a one stop center in house.....:driver:

Good choice. Next time I ask you to introduce your tuner to me. Not now. Havent found the suitable car yet.

Yeah.. Seri Rampai  And as for tuner no problem. The attention to detail this guy does for my car is pretty impressive.

Daily one, not so monster. If weekend ride, that can be real monster......lol:biggrin:

I got to meet this other E36 1jz dude who uses his car as a weekend ride. I think somewhere north of 600hp and his engine bay is GORGEOUS

I wish my engine bay was so tidy.

Wire tucking?

Wire tucking?

i think so. I'm going to meet up with him later in the month and he said he'll teach me. Apparently it's a simple thing.

So anyway. This the last thing being fixed before a proper final tune. My fuel pump.. sigh.

Shoddy aftermarket pump mod work. Whoever did this short-cut through the proper installation procedure. So this had to be redone.

Silicon is not petrol friendly! Jeez. And that rubber hose is not a pressure hose!

Dunno who thought it's a good idea to seal their shoddy wire install with silicon to be inside the fuel tank.

I had to buy a new one. RM380.. sigh.

Took this opportunity to update the fueling system to more modern top feed injectors and high capacity injectors and fuel rail.

And I now have a pair of BBS RC 17" original rims for sale if anyone is interested. Cuz I'm going to swap to these Hamman H2s.
