k-2001, and GT4WD: Wished I could join you guys la ... but at the moment in the US, but will be returning sometime in early Sept. Ya, intially I had the AP for the car (btw, mine's a C.Sainz No.46, and of course white hehehe) many years back, but the damn custom would not put a fix tax amount on it ... The agreed on an initial amount, but there was another clause stating that the final amount is to be assessed at the port (when it has actually landed) - bastards. Anyway, she's gone past 5-years old, and MY MITI would not allow cars to be imported anything more than 5 years.
Worse is, I just had a total rebuild (drove less than 3000km) of practically everything in the car, fresh forged pistons, rods and bearings, gearbox, solid clutch, rebuild TTE Group-A Bilstein coilovers, racetanks, twin master-cylinder brake, hydraulic handbrake, all round braided hose, 36-rows Earls cooler, 17 OZ Superturismo with GR-Bs, CF control panels with push start, and cut-offs, no-AC (hehehe), Autonic SMC with a-lag, all sort or rewiring work to neaten the engine bay, whole heap of silver heat insulaton covers for the wirings, and some CF work I did. All I needed was some AP-calipers, and a cage and it's ready for Targa Tasmania.
Well, too bad it's sitting and rotting in OZ now ...

GT4WD: Good question ... You know all the work I have put in with money,and my own hand, I have hardly had any pictures of it (at that time, digital camera weren't an "In" thing yet). But I will have my friend snap some photos of the bay, interior etc ... You'll be impressed on the state when I left the car ... If only I have time to go back to Oz and dismantle the parts back .... I really really love the Bilstein and the top camber, PLUS caster adjustable mount I tuned and designed .... Used to work for the Bilstein distributer there so I had all the machines and equipment to repair, tune and modify it ...
Give me some time ... I'll post some shots here later ... :) Btw, do you know what's the biggest set-back of the Celica's?

Sad to hear the tax issue casue ltos of trouble and cars over 5 years are not allowed to import to state? then arrange it to be back to m'sia then ~ i'm sure it's most welcome here... hehehee

GT4WD: sorry, if I didn't make it clear ... I am in the US now for a short term business trip with my company. Been here for almost 3 months now.
The car and the AP was suppose to be for Malaysia, and MITI (MY Int, Trade and Industry) has never (since 1998 anyway) allow cars to enter after 5 years it was manufactured (unless it is classified as a vintage). So, there's no chance of getting ger in ever, anymore. I think I would just have to "give" the car away to my friend or something. It too modded to even sell and get a roadworthy permit.
Anyway, what you guys normally do for the weekend? I may be in KL on the 8-9 Sept weekend meeting some Zth guys and girls (maybe) ... Maybe could tt together or something?

Got it clear mate. you're now on business trip to US and be back on 08/09 -09.2006. no worries, we'll sure get the chance to mee up and TT !
bout the importing issue. but how those guys managed to import their car that make almost 10 years back to m'sia ? even my current GT4 was make 91 but imported on 98, it's more then 5 years though. and recently 5 to 8 of nissan 180 and 220 was imported from U.K by my friend with student AP and they manage to get it done with a good and cheap tax price.
perhaps i shall get some info from them on how they get it in without hazzle. keep you in the loop and let me know if you have intention to bring it back then.
hm... normally friday would be our offical TT session everywhere which everyone agreed, sometime we'll have some yoga session amouth ourselve. we do hoop up with some others ZTH members even not 3S as well, i dont find a issue on it.
Perhaps we can have some joined TT session together as well for your return, mate ~! buzz us and keep us update ya ~

GT4WD: You are rite .... I wondered how they did it too. The AP I had and what MITI published clearly states the age for import. Will be good if I could get her back ... The you would have plenty of spares from my car .... I was planning to give it to my friend too ... Maybe sell it to then for a few thousands ....
Dunno if you guys know K3nny, Junsupra etc ... But was planning to meet up with them for some "coffee" ...

GT4WD: Yeah, K3nny's in the Skyline section. Normally, I don't think it's gonna be a formal tt ... Just a couple of friends out to shoot shits. See what we planned later when I get back ...
