rm300. its used from chop shop. still very good condition. honestly, used mufflers r ok coz japanese's cars have very low mileage. no prob.

if u r lookin for new item, be prepare to fork out at least Rm1000!! not worth it if u ask me. AutoEquipe has a lot of muffler (in Puchong)...u can give them a try.

Hello fellow feilos...DEFFY IS BACK!!!

Had a Y-Pipe put in on Saturday in Sg. Petani. Was feeling very stressed, so decided to drive out to the exhaust shop for some "quiet" time...

Mine is slightly different in design than the ones we have been debating. The two pipes run parallel into a "junction" shaped like a "V" and both fire backwards into the Y-Junction. Then into a single flex pipe, to the first joint.

Also got rid of the center box, and the bullet I had installed earlier in place of my cat converter. So, it's direct flow all the way to my rear muffler...which is not stock. I had an S-flow stainless steel muffler put in a year ago, and it's still in very good condition.

The response is interesting...

a) Noise level...at idle, it's quiet...almost too quiet. You NOW hear the left and right banks of the "V" firing independently. As we have 6 cylinders, each is simply as large as a 2l in-line-4 motor, so, no great rush of exhaust gasses each combustion cycle. Just a quiet "dap...dap...dap...dap". Initially, it sounded like a tug boat, as my idle speed dropped to about 500 rpm, but that was easily remedied by some roadside tuning.

b) Upon acceleration, then you hear a little bit of a roar. Not very loud, but very deep and pretty butch. Generally, the noise level was quite tolerable, but I think most would prefer to put in a high-flow bullet to tame it a little.

c) Response - I feel that there was some lessening of low rpm torque, but it quickly picks up once your engine reaches 2k rpm. You'll feel it kick and keep going after. I didn't have the time to test high speed, but for sure, the engine was breathing easier and throttle response was light. The most effect, I feel, was somewhere in the mid-range, where there was no longer any hesitation to hard acceleration whilst already moving. I feel that this would also benefit high end performance, and would like to test it soon.

d) FC - No opportunity to test. But generally, the feeling I get was that it was about the same. Then again, not many people have a foot as heavy as mine so... I have no humming, and the car is pretty smooth, at idle, even smoother than stock.

The price... $ 320 with flex pipe...

The guy basically built it from scratch, improvising as he went along. I doubt if he could pre-make one that would fit as he had to cut up mine and use some parts of the piping to make things easier, eg. the O2 mounting points and the flanges...

The pre-cats are stupid. The one on the rear manifold actually bends the pipe forwards, against the direction of flow to the rear muffler, and then turns 90 degrees to enter the main piping at right angles. I would never have thought that a jap engineer would make that kind of mistake...

chris...i think this is to control the emission level maybe?

CHEMEH: so u install liao???? howz de performance.........anyhow i heard my fren said he installed full set of Kayabe shocks from japan dat come along v the halfcut.........n seems dat it is a very nice absorbers n not very bumpy too.....if so y not we consider about KYB but the problem is there's no A32 list in local Kayaba.........juz ken get from KYB japan........anywan interested?????

Hi Ong,

How is the Y pipe upgrade? you did yours already?

I am planing to do it after CNY. Will try to put in the R34 GTT (auto) muffler also, since i got it FOC

Ya lor....and after you fit Y-Pipe...the unichip programming will be innacurate liow...

many many years back when i am very into the piggy back ecu, i look at unichip, and PerfectPower both from the same country (South Africa). They can only control AF, and not timing.. cause Nissan CAS signal are slightly difference from others ecu.. it got 1 Deg, and 90Deg signal.

Imported one PerfectPower piggy back and try, yet still can't get the ignition timing control. only AF..

Maybe now they found ways to control the timing. Ong make sure you ask them what can uniship do, and ask them to show you the result and also the only Graph.

tune again loh..UniChip can move from car to car one ma.
My friend's Perdana tune 2 times to get the tunning that he likes.
When you sell of your car, remove it and put in your new car loh.

Perdana gain 7BPH on wheel after UniChip.

One way to find out will be on the Dyno loh.
So who every wanted to do the Y Pine, get one run on the Dyno and then do again after the Y Pipe will know loh.
Sure will be a good way to show the improvement. Can put as pin up here in ZTH.
