Seeking advices from those who have experienced or have any idea on what i am about to say.

Problem is gearbox. Only happens from cold start, meaning after a long stop.
Normal driving style, 1st gear no problem. 2nd gear can move.. but the problem is on 2nd gear. When shifting up (from 2nd) the gear seems to be vibrating..reluctantly letting loose of the 2nd gear. it's like u can feel the grinding sensation when u are holding the gear stick.

After that no problem. until u leave the car for some time.. then it comes again. But only on 2nd gear.

so whats wrong with it? gear oil kaput? syncro mesh kaput? or time to change lsd?

i think ur 2nd speed gear teeth worn out oledi
it is not the syncro becoz it controls 1st and 2nd gear..
if ur syncro mechanism rosak sure ur 1st gear also got prob
in my opinion only but im not so sure

If it's worn out... then it should happen all the time isn't it? but the sensation is only periodic. Frequency is like once a day .. mostly during cold start.

owh is it..?
when it's reaches the normal operating temp
dat noise gone?
it is a crunching sound?
i think u better seek for some professional advices
anyway, im still a student ^^

Thats why i'm here for a profesional advice. Cannot trust bengkels.. after they ask to change the whole gearbox.

Anyway.. there is no sound but just a sensation. The 2nd gear doesn let go when u depress the clutch and u can feel the grinding on the gear stick. but with a little force it will let go into free play to shift gear.

Only happens once in a while.

Then another funny thing happen. While stuck in a jam yesterday, while braking, there is metal grinding sound (on off .. like abs) and the brake pedal is vibrating.. but only happen once during the whole journey and for that day. .what the hell is wrong? my ABS can trow away? why so many problems!?

manual car. I've never heard of the problem before neither. But it is happening. Almost a month and i 've been hearing it... ALMOST everyday. actually sometimes...

just send to the workshop..maybe the mechanic can take a ride..and check ur ride...maybe it's the gearbox mounting...

can't send as the problem is erratic. only occasional. Have ask my foreman.. and he says.. never hear before. If want have to take out and see

It happen to me before, I change full set of quality clutch (exedy made in jpn) including clutch bearing . Settle. if problem persist try prooced to change clutch cable. TQ

gearbox mounting??
i dont think it is relate with the shifting problems

normally they replace the gearbox
but actually it can be overhauled

Hmm....Proton 4G93 gearbox usual problem will only happen to 5th gear....

well.. the funny thing is .. it seems to have disapear... but still quite curious to know whats wrong.
perhaps the cluth pump going to kaput..

Anyway... to add to my woes...

PROB2: Brake juddering, like ABS working. But not under emergency braking.. just light braking? can the difference is.. the juddering can be felt on the pedal itself.

ABS is is confirmed spoiled on the sensor on the rear right (suspect wiring problem). Other 3 is working just fine.

Also how much does the ARB mounting rubbers cost? (the 2 rubbers at the cross member)

Anyone?

satria 1.8? SGTI is it? must be manual. but as u said the prob had disappeared rite?

so, let me suggest on the other 2 problems...

1. absorber top mounting cost about RM40 each.
2. if ABS confirmed spoilt, then the judder is normal. fix the prob or remove the ABS system complete altogether

SGTI yes.

eh.. sorry for asking, but why would the absorber top mount be a problem? If it's cracked, then the only thing would be those squeeky sound right?

I suppose the ABS is causing the irratic juddering since it's malfunctioning. BUt kinda expensive to fix. But it's kinda dangerous as when it happens, braking power is gone momentarily.

IS there any workshop thats good in handling ABS problem? would like to seek some sound advice...

check ur disc brake condition
if necessary, try to skim the disc...

my apology..worng quote...but the front and rear engine mounting does cost about RM45 each. can DIY if want..

i had experienced ABS juddering problem while driving Wira C99 1.8 DOHC.
that's why am saying it - based on my experience.

best way to solve the problem is to go back to franchise dealer ie EON or Proton Edar as they have the computer to link to the ABS ECU. some authorised dealers do have such equipment. sadly ABS is not about repairing - its too complicated.

How do you DIY engine mount?

Btw, absorber top mount would be relatively cheap to replace. will try that. Any way... refering to above, the computer link u are refering to is the PDT2000? went through that... hence confirm something wrong. But don't know what. 3 others are working just that particular one on the rear right is not working. Changed sensor also same problem. Perhaps the input on the abs board kaputed. ....
