I LOVE my EG...

This morning it was raining cats and dogs...the type that if u were to run out in the rain...by the time 2 metres aredy wet till underwear type....

so i was driving to work and as typical Boleh-Land roads...lots of areas flooded at least 2" high. i saw quite a few cars parked by the side of the road, most prolly cos engine masuk air and cant start again...i was thinking lucky i not 1 of them...

was turning a last turn into my company and was driving on the left side of the corner...and got as usual a huge puddle of water (must've been at least 4" deep since at 30kmh aredy can see splash as far as 2metres on each side...then this idiot lorry drive on my right side of the corner and totally splashed my whole car in water....then the worse thing that could happen happened!....lost power! cos it was so heavy the rain i didnt know engine died off cos radio n aircon still on...press accelarator n nothing...put emergency signal n coast to side of road....turn off lights, radio n aircon...then can only confirm engine died off...turned off ignition key n try to crank it on again...nothing. not even a crank. started to worry liau. nvm...try again. turn off n turn the key again...check engine light came on this time...ok i tot...electrics still work...then it turned off, signalling ok to start....so i cranked....it cranked this time...but wont start. oh shit! after 5 seconds stopped cranking...and can hear engine sputtering then straight off....oh fark! confirm got water got in liau. so i cranked again...and again...n again...and the 5th time....it sputtered but didnt go off....I pumped the accelarator a few times...can hear a little *ahem* *ahem* coming from engine....so i pumped a few times more....and the engine revved!!!!!!! then i tekan minyak for fear it will die off again and it revved happily till 4k!!!! ok...now the acid test...idling. i released the accelarator...and it dropped to 800 happily without any jerk. whew! put into gear and rushed off into my workplace. found a parking and stopped.another acid test...turned off the engine....then try to start again...started on first crank as per normal! Wonderful!

so i reached for my umbrella and wanted to get out...open the door and opened the umbrella...and the umbrella broke at the handle and cut my palm...FARK...no choice...had to run the last 5metres to the closest shaded walkway...lucky the umbrella can open halfway just handle is a piece of metal sharp enough to kill a yakuza.

wanna ask for opinions from all eg lovers:biggrin:
i want to change my front upper arm and also ball joint..if i use the taiwan made parts is it ok? coz rite now i only can find the taiwan parts....
 
taiwan? wat brand? if asahi...it will have squeeks a week after pasang n will continue for the next few months. save up n buy the hardrace replacement upper arms...will last much longer n it is adjustable (can solve the inner wear problem) - i'm saving up for a set now hehehehe
 
yeah if not mistake brand asahi hehe cannot wait to save more bro coz my upper arm and ball joint already faulty n not dare to drive if not replace hehe
 
if upper arm ball joint still ok, u can save some $$$ by using back yr ori upper arm n just change the bush. most mechs dont want to recommend this cos less untung n it takes more time to send the arm to engineering shop to pump the bushes in. they prefer a quick swap of the arms cos it takes less time n more profit margin. but if yr ball joint gone...no choice. need to change the whole thing cos the ball joints cant be removed. think about this...a side of asahi replacements will cost u between rm170-190(depending on which sparepart shop) and maybe even more if u go to workshop and they order it for you. that price is for 1 side! a hardrace replacement costs about rm550 - rm650 but it is for left and right and brand new. the price isnt that much different and in the long run, u'll save on maintaining the arms and uneven tyre wear. u can lower yr car as much as u want and still have perfectly 0 camber (unless u kaki corner and want -2deg la hehehe)
 
i change both side whole set for upper arm...for ball joint its made in japan:biggrin:
if use hardrace won't it be too hard coz i read its gonna be harder than OEM one hehe

last nite found out got fuel leak at the evap 2 way valve (ufo shape near fuel tank)...not sure whether the valve is faulty or just hose loose..hw to check if the valve still gud and normally where to source new one?price?thanks in advan:burnout:
 
not sure if can still get oem new set....might have to check with halfcut shops. tho not sure if they willing to sell seperately. most of the time they sell the whole tank as a set.
